About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for RFQ ID: FA282326Q0083-A/D West Gate Chapel Mold Sanitation, issued on September 2, 2026. The document does not address specific response dates, award dates, pricing terms, or contract vehicles, as it serves to clarify requirements for bidders rather than establish contractual terms. The requirement involves mold sanitation services at West Gate Chapel, a federal facility.

Key service requirements include cleaning and sanitizing HVAC coils, blower assemblies, and ductwork spanning three classrooms added to the original chapel structure. Contractors have discretion in methodology and may clean components in place or remove them for outdoor cleaning. The scope encompasses internal HVAC or duct insulation that is wet, deteriorated, or visibly contaminated, which must be removed and replaced if it cannot be effectively cleaned. A 10-foot cleaning area around each air handler, duct, and vent must be addressed, including all walls, ceilings, wooden fixtures, and other surfaces within that perimeter. Additionally, approximately 2,500 square feet of commercial-grade carpet in the sanctuary (nave area, excluding the chancel) requires cleaning and sanitization. Contractors are not responsible for moving pews or furniture. Acceptance will be based on visual clearance from chapel leadership without requirements for post-remediation verification, air or surface sampling, laboratory testing, moisture readings, or formal clearance reports. This is the first mold sanitation award of this type at West Gate Chapel, with no historical contract data available.

RFQ ID: FA282326Q0083- A / D West Gate Chapel Mold Sanitation

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1. May the coils and blower assemblies be cleaned and sanitized in place, or must they be removed from the fan-coil units and cleaned outdoors?

A1. We were advised by a prior vendor that the a/c unit can be cleaned and sanitized in place without removal. Vendors can do what they deem the most efficient to get the job done.

Q2. Please provide the number, type, approximate dimensions or linear footage, and locations of all ducts, branches, supply vents, return vents, registers, grilles, and diffusers included in the requirement.

A2. The duct system spans three classrooms that were added onto the original chapel.

Q3. If internal HVAC or duct insulation is wet, deteriorated, or visibly contaminated and cannot be effectively cleaned, is the contractor required to remove and replace it?

A3. Yes

Q4. How should the 10-foot cleaning area be measured around each air handler, duct, and vent? Does this include all walls, ceilings, wooden doors, panels, cabinets, and other surfaces within that distance?

A4. It includes walls, wooden fixtures, and other surfaces within the 10 foot perimeter of the objects.

Q5. Please confirm the sanctuary carpet square footage, carpet type, and whether the contractor is responsible for moving and resetting pews, furniture, or other contents.

A5. Square footage of commercial grade carpet is roughly 2,500. This includes the carpet in the nave (where the pews are) and does not include the chancel (pulpit area).

Vendor is not responsible for moving the pews or furniture.

Q6. What inspection and acceptance criteria will be used? Are post-remediation verification, air or surface sampling, laboratory testing, moisture readings, or a clearance report required? If so, who is responsible for providing these services?

A6. No, post-remediation verification, air or surface sampling, laboratory testing, moisture readings, or a clearance report required. It will most likely be a visual clearance from chapel leadership.

2 September 2026

Q7. The name of the current incumbent contractor, if applicable. The current or previous contract number for these or similar services at the West Gate Chapel. The total award amount and contract period of performance for the most recent award, if applicable.

A7. This is the first of its kind award at West Gate Chapel. No historical data is available.
