Questions and Answers Session #5 Q5:

Vendor Question 1) “Questions on project FA2823-19-Q-0024

No mention is made of platform extensions (commonly known as “sliders”) in the specifications.

These close the gap between the platform and irregular surfaces of the aircraft. Are these not required or are they assumed to be included? If assumed are they on all platform edges or only where most useful? Is locking required?”

Vendor Question 2) “In reference to the change made on April 26th to solicitation FA2823-19- Q-0024. If the material on the platform/stand is inherently non-corrosive(such as aluminum), does that material still need to be painted?

The only purpose at that point would seem to be for esthetic reasons.”

A5:

Government Response 1) This question has been addressed in “Questions and Answers session #4.” In addition to below response, please refer to “Questions and Answers #4,” posted to solicitation on 29 April 2019.

Platforms/Stands must conform to the solicitation. In accordance with the solicitation, all maintenance platforms/stands must have protective padding/rubberized bumper to prevent damage to aircraft where stand contact/possible contact may occur at any point on the airframe;

this includes any/all edges and/or sides that will be facing towards the aircraft where stand contact/possible contact may occur.

Sliders are not specified as a requirement in the solicitation to allow for a greater range of choices for vendors. It is the vendor’s choice whether or not sliders are used, as sliders are an option rather than a requirement in meeting specifications. If a vendor chooses to use sliders, the sliders should have a locking mechanism with the ability to lock in place once positioned for safety.

Note: Number 11 of minimum requirements/salient characteristics has been amended to address the option of sliders, to include a locking mechanism requirement if a vendor chooses sliders in meeting this specification.

Government Response 2) Yes, each stand must be painted to assist with corrosion prevention.

Please refer to minimum requirements/salient characteristics number 17 of solicitation.

Note: As a reminder, any questions regarding this solicitation must be submitted no later than Tuesday, 7 MAY 2019, by 4:00 P.M. Central Daylight Time (CDT). Any questions submitted after this date, may not be answered.
