Attachment L-2, Scenarios
4.1.3.1 FACTOR 1 – Program Management
No scenario for this factor.
4.1.3.2 FACTOR 2 – Operations, Maintenance, and Logistics
• Subfactor 1 – Maintenance Operations Center No scenario for this subfactor
• Subfactor 2 - DSCS
• Scenario 1. The DSCS Antenna High Power Amplifier #1 has failed. After troubleshooting, it is determined the High Voltage Power Supply has failed and requires replacement.
• Describe a detailed approach necessary to restore the component to operational status.
• Scenario 2. The DSCS Antenna experienced a loss of autotrack. Troubleshooting has determined jamming/interference on the satellite beacon tracking frequencies.
• Describe a detailed approach necessary to restore autotrack and maintain communications until jamming/interference is mitigated and any associated closure actions are taken.
• Subfactor 3 - MILSTAR
• Scenario 3. An authorized service interruption has just come to an end. During the event a normal PMI was performed on the terminal which required it to be ‘red buttoned’. Authorization has been given to re-acquire the satellite, and to establish and re-join networks.
• What image products and cryptographic material are necessary to accomplish the assigned task?
• Upon reacquisition of the satellite, the terminal is successful on achieving downlink but consistently fails uplink. The downlink signal to noise ratio is very low. Describe possible problems.
• Once successfully logged on, an attempt to join a KGV-11 COMSEC net was attempted. The terminal immediately de-accessed satellite. Subsequent attempts to do this resulted in the same outcome. Describe possible problems.
• Subfactor 4 - GBS
• Scenario 4. The JBOSS servers at the DECC in Oklahoma City have gone offline, preventing the GBSOC from managing and configuring the GBS broadcast.
• Describe a detailed approach on how the GBSOC personnel will effectively operate and perform the mission without access to their JBOSS servers.
• List any references that would be used to begin troubleshooting procedures to restore the JBOSS servers to functionality.
• Describe the coordination process with DISA service entities to restore JBOSS services.
• Assuming a follow-on ASI is required to correct a degraded JBOSS condition, describe the GBSOC role in the ASI process.
• Scenario 5. A user’s receive suite is experiencing video, data file, and/or webcrawl outages or service degradation.
• Describe a detailed approach on how the GBSOC personnel, trained in RBM operations and troubleshooting, will effectively restore the receive suite full functionality to receive products.
• List any references that would be used to begin troubleshooting procedures to restore the lost/service degradation of video, data file, and/or webcrawl to functionality.
4.1.3.3 FACTOR 3 – Database Management
• Scenario 6. A new satellite has been launched. In order for operations to perform trending and analysis for the new satellite, it must be added to the existing database.
Associated with the database are 2 software applications.
• Please describe the process used to update the database and the associated software applications.
4.1.3.4 FACTOR 4 – Configuration Management
No scenario for this factor.
4.1.3.5 FACTOR 5 – Information Assurance:
No scenario for this factor.
4.1.3.6 FACTOR 6 – System Safety:
No scenario for this factor.
4.1.3.7 FACTOR 7 – Price:
No scenario for this factor.
