Q&A Q. A quick clarification regarding the expansion joints. Do you want to leave them as is? Or pull all the caulk and fill or recaulk the joints (that will add quite a bit of expense to the job)?

A. In the statement of work. “B. Additional Requirements 3. Repair and Maintenance: Remove, repair, and fill all control joints (coated to match the floor) and all concrete spalled areas.”

Q. What is the moisture reading for each area to be coated? Current moisture %. Measured next to drains, entrance, main areas, near side and back walls?

A. Agency doesn’t have a device to read moisture in concrete, 3-6 month ago, a 3rd party checked the concrete moisture and verbally told the government it was very minimal.

Q. What is the Mohs (hardness) test for each area? One reading per space is sufficient.

A. Not able to provide a Mohs test. This concrete has been in place since 1995.

Q. Will you be covering or turning off air handling units in the space?

A. If required, gov can coordinate.

Q. Will you be covering smoke detectors or any other alarm devices?

A. The Government will not be covering smoke detectors, if required this should be done by the contractor.

Q. Will you be covering any equipment that will remain in the adjacent space to where work is being conducted that you do not want to have dusty?

A. Any item that can’t be removed will need to be covered/protected by the contractor.

Q. What are the linear feet of line striping requirements in total and per color?

A. The line striping will be red, approx. 35ft per parking garage spot (35ft per line x10 garages) = 350ft approx. Approx. 4-inch width.

Q. Will someone be available to validate line striping measurements during installation?

A. The Government will be available to validate line striping during installation. The contractor should measure existing line placement before work starts to ensure that lines are in the correct area. In the statement of work “C. Backup Parking Lines 2. Marking: Once the floor has cured, mark out the parking lines for each vehicle parking area, maintaining the same layout as the current lines unless otherwise specified by the Fire Department (FD).”

Q. Do floors have radiant heat in them? In-floor heat can affect the curing process in certain ambient temperatures.

A. There is no radiant heat in the floors.

Q. How long do we have to complete a section?

A. In statement of work, “C. Backup Parking Lines 3. Phased Work: The job will be split into two phases, with work performed on 5 of the 10 truck parking areas per phase.” There is no specific timeline per section, however there is for the entire project. See Question below!

Q. What is the timeline for completing this project?

A. In the statement of work. “4. Delivery: The contractor shall deliver/install floor covering scheme that meet the above requirements no more than 120 days after receipt of the order.” The Government suggests work not be performed in winter months; fire trucks can freeze causing damage.

Q. Can the decals provided by the Fire Department that will be embedded into the system need to be produced from either of these 2 products in order ensure proper adhesion?

0. Brightline 60/40 perforated, no laminate, 40% perforation, 60% retained. This product will last longer and have the best adhesion for the materials.

0. 3M IJ180MC – Vinyl – No laminate - 3 Mil. This product is acceptable.

A. Yes, it’s possible to obtain the decal from a vendor, if provided the specs, government will coordinate with decal vendor to acquire correct product to be embedded.

Q. Will the government or the contractor be responsible for moving the gym equipment out of the gym area?

A. Government will move the equipment.

Q. Please confirm that it will not be the Contractor’s responsibility to move equipment or materials to access the floors for work as described in the PWS?

A. Government will move the equipment.

Q. PWS E.2. states, “Equipment and Materials: The contractor will provide their own equipment, tools, materials, power, and restrooms”. Is the Contractor to provide a generator for their power needs or can the building’s electrical be utilized to power the tools needed to do the work required?

A. Not sure the type of tools to be used to complete the work. The Government only has 20 Amp outlets in area of work being performed. If contractor requires larger than 20 Amps, suggest supplying own power/generator as stated in the statement of work. Government will not be available to reset electric breakers for the contractor.

Q. Are submittals a requirement for this project? If so, what submissions will require approval from the Government?

A. No submittals are required, this is considered a one-time service, not a construction requirement.
