Questions/RFI Building 1 Artwork
RFQ FA251725Q0055
What is the desired method of installation for the acrylic pieces? Artwork may be hung using sawtooth hangers, D-rings, French Cleats or wire mounts, depending on the weight and size of the piece. Mounting hardware must be fully covered by art piece with no exposed hardware visible once hung. Method and hardware used to affix to walls must be clean with minimal wall penetrations and able to withstand the weight of the piece.
Will that also be the desired method of installation on the metal piece? Same stipulation as above. Contractor’s judgment authorized as long as end state met.
Would it be possible to get pictures of the walls where the artwork will be hung inside Building 1 for design purposes? Pictures can be obtained with timely request. Allow three business days for approval and an additional three business days to accomplish scheduling and the photos.
C8 and C9 are on the map, but no Power Point page is contained in the RFP package. It is believed that C9 has been removed from the contract and that C8 is in the contract. Location of C9 was not visited during the Site Visit on Friday, May 3.
Please advise if C8 and C9 are both in this contract. Walls C9 and C8 have been removed from map as well as the Power Point presentation. These walls are no longer part of project.
Please confirm whether walls marked with an asterisk (e.g., C13) are indeed SCIF perimeters and consist of double drywall construction, as inferred during the site walk. Yes, wall C13 is a special wall. Asterisk missing from map.
Are there any additional constraints on penetrations for SCIF-perimeter or 'special wall' areas beyond what's outlined in Attachment 02 Configuration and Mediums? For special walls, all new penetrations must be filled and inspected same day. Inspections of penetrations will take place regardless of whether they are intentional or the result of a mistake. These inspections will take place same day of installation after penetrations are made; contractor installer shall not departing the work area until special wall penetration inspection has received inspection and approval. Contractor shall coordinate the installation schedule NLT 3 days in advance with government to facilitate timely inspections.
Is the freight elevator (8’H x 5’W) available throughout the installation window, and are there any scheduling limitations we should be aware of? The freight elevator will be available throughout the installation.
If we request to stage artwork or materials temporarily inside the facility (e.g., hallways), will the government allow temporary storage with prior coordination? Yes, there is a place to temporarily store artwork within the Atrium. Pieces shall not be stored more than 10 working days and contractor must be prepared to move them at a moments notice.
Can we schedule an additional site visit or measurement verification walk prior to final design submission? Yes with proper prior coordination.
How long does the government typically take to process background checks for site personnel once the access list is submitted? At the soonest 3-5 days and at the latest 1 month.
Please provide the existing paint colors for all walls. We would like to match existing when doing any patchwork. Paint Specifications: Basis of design, Sherwin-Williams 7064 Passive, main wall color and 7066 Gray Matters and a complimentary trim color. Keep in mind color may not match exactly as interior walls have been match painted for years.
In Attachment 02 Configuration and Mediums, there are two types of Acrylic Prints mentioned: first, "artworks printed on acrylic sheets" and second, "face-mounted acrylic prints". Which, if any, print placements would you like to be produced as face-mounted acrylic prints? Face mounted prints may be used at the artist’s discretion depending on location of piece and overall design.
Should any of the fine art prints (whether acrylic or metal) be framed? Some prints may have frames at the artist’s discretion. All unframed edges shall be finished for a professional appearance if exposed.
What is the wall material for each artwork placement? Drywall single and double thickness varies depending on location.
Is any specialty hanging hardware (e.g., four point security hardware) required? Hardware shall be appropriate for the mounting surface, weight and size of the art piece. Government does not dictate any specialty hardware with the exception that the contractor must select appropriate hardware that is not visible once piece is installed.
In the RFQ, does "Extended Price" refer to the price for the overall scope? If not, would you please define "Extended Price"? Yes, extended price refers to the price for the overall requirement/scope. (answered by 21 CONS)
We understand that "Past Performance information will also be gathered using the CAGE code submitted with the quote." Can vendors showcase past experience in the submission? If you would like but the submission page maximum is 5 pages. The past performance systems will still be reviewed. (answered by 21 CONS)
