About this file
This is a Questions & Answers document clarifying requirements for a federal contract opportunity involving fire suppression equipment.
The Government requires the Amerex Model 775 wheeled unit with a 150-pound capacity charged exclusively with Novec 1230 clean agent, per Technical Order 00-25-172 which prohibits Halon use in USAFE operations. NSN 4210-01-610-6985 is the correct stock number for this specific configuration. Halotron I agent is explicitly not acceptable as a substitute, despite historical manufacturing variations. Vendors must submit documentation validating their status as an authorized Amerex supplier or reseller to ensure life-safety equipment authenticity and valid manufacturer warranties. The Government prefers a delivery timeframe of 120 days after receipt of order (ARO), though vendors unable to meet this preferred schedule must state their quickest reliable delivery timeline, which will be evaluated as part of quote evaluation.

Questions & Answers
Question: Agent type clarification. Attachment 1 (Salient Characteristics) lists the agent as Novec 1230 clean agent. The Amerex Model 775 associated with NSN 4210-01-610-6985 is manufactured as a 150 lb Halotron I wheeled unit. Can the Government confirm that the requirement is the Amerex Model 775 as manufactured (Halotron I agent), and that the Novec 1230 reference in Attachment 1 does not alter the brand name requirement?
Answer: The Government confirms that the requirement is strictly for the Amerex Model 775 Novec 1230 Clean Agent wheeled unit (150 lb capacity). Per T.O. 00-25- 172, the use of Halon is prohibited in USAFE, and the Amerex Model 775 charged with Novec 1230 is the mandated standard flightline extinguisher. For the vendors' awareness, NSN 4210-01-610-6985 is the correct stock number associated with the Amerex Model 775 (Novec 1230). Halotron I agent is not acceptable as a substitute.
The Salient Characteristics document (Attachment 1) is correct: we require Novec 1230.
Question: Reseller validation. Should vendors include documentation of their authorized Amerex supply channel with their quote submission?
Answer: Yes. To ensure life-safety equipment authenticity and valid manufacturer warranties, vendors must include documentation validating they are an authorized Amerex supplier/reseller with their quote submission.
Question: Delivery expectation. Does the Government have a required or preferred delivery timeframe (days ARO) that quotes should meet, or will delivery schedule simply be evaluated as quoted?
Answer: The Government prefers a delivery timeframe of 120 days ARO. If vendors cannot meet this preferred timeframe, they must state their quickest reliable schedule, and the delivery timeline will be evaluated as quoted.
