About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document addressing clarifications for a sunshade procurement requirement.

The requirement encompasses 36 total sunshades to be installed, with manual and motorized configurations on the lower half and manual-only shades on the upper half. Two sunshades will be fitted per lower window. Only the lower shades will be motorized; upper shades remain manual. The existing windows currently have a manual upper shade and motorized lower shade, and this requirement will add an additional set of manual shades to the lower positions. Wiring is already in place to allow for "plug and play" rewiring. Existing shades are connected to a dedicated circuit.

Control specifications require one single device to switch all motorized sunshades, with the buyer requesting options for standard light switches, remote control, and smart tablet controls if available from vendors to ensure fair pricing comparison. The price range for controls varies significantly, from $5,000 for line voltage switches to over $60,000 for programmable touch screens. Site visit attendance is not required for quotes to be considered valid. Vendors are instructed to provide options for all three control types if their company offers them.

Are the wires brought up next to the mullions? Where does the power come from - existing receptacles, or dedicated circuit? Will the circuit be by others?

The exisiting shades have a dedicated circuit they're connected too

Question/Statements Answer

Motorization in this cab would require a double motor line at the header, greatly affecting AT's view.

In addition, motorizing the secondary shade line means that the support bracketing would have to be projected into the room to clear the manually operated primary shade line nearest to the glass.

Power/control wiring has not been addressed.

Controls for motorization have not been specified.

Choices can run from simple line voltage rocker switches which are located at each station operating its associated shade, up to a central, programmable touch screen operating groupings and shade settings.

The price span for just the controls is drastic - $5k for the line voltage up past $60k for the touch screen. What way would you like to control the shades?

The drawing and dimensions show 24 total shades, but on the upper right side of the drawing, it says there are 48 total shades, 24 manual and 24 motorized. Can you confirm the number of shades? I see 12 lower shades 94" x 88" and 12 upper shades 91" x 58". Also, which ones will be motorized, uppers or lowers?

Do I need to attend the site visit to have a quote that will be considered?

To confirm, do those lower windows have two layers of material coverage in each window? I do see the lower outside shades that looks to be connected in the middle so that one motor looks to operate both of them, I also see the cable guide on the right side of the picture for that shade, what I do not see is the lower inside window frame shades in the picture nor do I see manual pull cords to pull them down (again the cords I do see in the middle beam operate what I believe are the upper shades).

This requirment will be for a total of 36 sunshades with manual and motorized on the lower half and manual only upper. Fitment will allow for two sunshades on lower.

Wiring is in place currently that will allow for a "plug and play" rewire.

It would be most beneficial to have one single device to switch all motorized sunshades, the current sunshades are controlled by standard light switches, a remote control, a smart tablet or switches are acceptable. Please provide an option for all three if your company offers so quotes can be priced fairly.

The total number of shades Is 36 (see combo). The dimensions are there to show upper and lower shade sizes. The "12" can be ignored on this document. Only shades that will be motorized are the lower shades.

No

The windows currently only have a manual upper and motorized lower. This requirement will add an additional set of manual shades to the lower in addition to the others.
