1. Are there blue prints for water and power lines? (For digging purses)
ANSWER: Refer to attached drawings. This is all we have on record for the requested information.
2. If needed, can the water be shut off?
ANSWER: Yes, the water can be turned off if needed.
3. What material is required for the back-fill?
ANSWER: The Government believes that pea gravel would be a suitable material but the contractor should verify with the manufacturer of the piping to be used.
4. Should the entire19-20 line be replaced?
ANSWER: This section of line has collapsed. The Government requests to completely remove and replace this section. The pavement will also have to be repaired/replaced as needed.
5. Should the man-hole be replaced as far as where lines are cracked right next to man-hole?
ANSWER: The man-holes should be retained and reused as long as they are not damaged in such a way that they are not serviceable. Please provide a unit cost to replace a man-hole if needed
6. Should septic tank pumping occur at the end of the job? What sizes are the tanks?
ANSWER: Yes, the tanks should be pumped dry.
The sizes of the tanks are:
Tank # 1: 23' x 5' x 5' = 4,300 gallons
Tank # 2: 10'6" x 5' x 5' = 2,000 gallons
Tank # 3: 6'6" x 5' x 5' = 1,200 gallons
7. The specified pipe (PVC Sch. 40 or 80) is not manufactured in the 14' lengths as shown on the Drawings. May the contractor use standard PVC gravity sewer pipe?
ANSWER: The pipe length was specified based upon what had been used for previous repairs. PVC gravity sewer pipe may be used for this project.
8. What is the typical depth of the existing pipe?
ANSWER: Refer to the provided drawings from the original site build for pipe profiles and depths. It is believed that the pipes are 4' to 6' in depth but there are instances that the pipe is much deeper.
