SECTION 2: PROJECT SUMMARY
2.1 – Project Description
Project Status: Select whether your project/activity is an entirely new project or an extension of an existing project:
☐New CIO Project/Activity ☒ CIO Existing Project/Activity (Expansion/Change of Scope)
Project Description: Provide a description of the project including a justification for the project’s bona fide need in the space below:
APHL will work with OAMD to plan, coordinate, and facilitate a stakeholder’s meeting with AMD Bioinformatics Regional Resource leads, AMD Regional Training leads, and other key PHL leadership to address a national plan for bioinformatics infrastructure. The project is needed to establish workgroups to provide solutions and recommendations related to establishing a sustainable national bioinformatics infrastructure for public health laboratories.
Activities: Describe activities to be carried out in this project as well as their associated deliverables:
APHL and OAMD will convene an AMD Strategic Planning meeting in March 2022 to develop a national plan for bioinformatics infrastructure – “The AMD Bioinformatics Platform”. The AMD Bioinformatics Platform plan will include all public health laboratories. APHL will work with OAMD to develop the agenda, will travel approximately 20 members to provide input into the plan and provide facilitation services. The meeting will convene as a pre-conference session before the 11th International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases (ICEID) in March 2022. Following the meeting, APHL will develop a summary report and work with OAMD to ensure action items are executed.
