Mandatory compliance standards include Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, The Joint Commission guidelines, NFPA Life Safety and Healthcare Facilities Codes, ICC/ANSI accessibility standards, OSHA healthcare standards, ADA accessibility requirements, and various energy efficiency and sustainable design guidelines.
The appendix provides detailed references for architectural and design specifications, including room finishes, door and hardware schedules, physical security protocols, and VA signage design guidelines. Additional resources are provided through helpful links to VA Office of Construction & Facilities Management websites, enabling developers to access comprehensive building and design criteria for the project. The developer team is specifically instructed to confirm room finish materials and design details with the local VA interior design team.
