About this file
This document is a bid drawing set (Exhibit D) for the Florissant Golf Club irrigation system installation project in Florissant, Missouri. The project requires the installation of a complete new Rain Bird Integrated Control (IC) irrigation system throughout the golf course property, including HDPE mainline and lateral piping systems, Rain Bird IC sprinkler heads for greens, tees, fairways, and perimeter areas, and associated electrical and communication components. The irrigation system design consists of two control paths: Path 1 contains 310 stations and Path 2 contains 272 stations. The sprinkler head specifications include 227 Rain Bird A-952-IC-80-52 units (80 psi, 83' range, 36.3 gpm), 9 additional A-952-IC-80-52 units, 134 A-702-IC-80-36 units (80 psi, 70' range, 28.3 gpm), 178 A-752-IC-80-36 units (80 psi, 68' range, 24.7 gpm), 30 A-752-IC-80-26 units (80 psi, 51' range, 11.6 gpm), and 578 VIH units for a total of 1,156 irrigation heads. The pump station discharge specifications are 800 gpm at 103 psi with potable static pressure of 85 psi. Piping materials include HDPE 4710 DR13.5 in various sizes (2" through 18") and 1" PVC CL 200 lateral piping, with minimum bend radius requirements specified for all installations.
The contractor is solely responsible for developing accurate material takeoff quantities including normal installation waste and must notify the architect and owner of any significant discrepancies between their takeoff and the CAD-provided counts prior to bid submission. The Integrated Control (IC) electrical system requires 14 AWG communication cable routed along two distinct primary trunk and branch paths, with Integrated Control Surge Devices (ICSD) installed no farther than 500 feet apart or with no more than 15 ICM (Integrated Control Modules) between each ICSD. All ground resistance must be established at 50 ohms or less at each ICSD, with measurements recorded in field notes. The contractor must provide complete compliance with current Rain Bird IC system installation recommendations, include all voltage regulation and surge devices recommended by the manufacturer, coordinate with existing buried utilities on the golf course, and prepare comprehensive as-built documentation including digital long addresses for each ICM, pipe routing, wiring paths, valves, splices, and control component locations. Construction must be sequenced to maintain golf course operations with all but one hole open at any time, with each hole completed before proceeding to the next.

The Primary Trunk and Branch routing shown does not include the secondary/lateral runs along the lateral pipe routing to the VIH sprinklers or to the remote control valves. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for determining the the proper and necessary lengths of all wire paths.
The Integrated Control Surge Device (ICSD) shall be installed with grounding rods along the primary "Trunk" IC wire path as noted on the drawing. In no case shall ICSD be farther than 500 feet from the adjacent ICSD or for no more than 15 ICM between each ICSD. Grounding shall establish a ground resistance of 50 ohms or less.
Rain Bird communication cable shall be 12/2 or 14/2 MAXI Cable meeting all manufacturing specifications for use with the Rain Bird IC system.
Rain Bird IC Electrical Legend
1. These IC Installation Notes are supplemental and are in addition to the complete specifications and requirements provided in the Bid Document.
2. The Contractor shall exercise special care to assure the proper installation of all wiring for the Integrated Control IC Modules and IC Surge Devices. The IC system shall be installed in complete compliance with the most current recommendations and instructions available from Rain Bird at the time of installation.
3. The Integrated Control Surge Device (ICSD) shall be installed with grounding rods along the primary "Trunk" IC wire path as noted on the drawing. In no case shall ICSD be farther than 500 feet from the adjacent ICSD or for no more than 15 ICM between each ICSD or as instructed by the Manufacturer.
4. The Contractor shall establish ground resistance at each ICSD of 50 ohms or less. The resistance shall be measured at each ICSD and recorded on the as built field notes. The Contractor shall be responsible for all materials and labor necessary to establish satisfactory ground resistance in accordance with all Rain Bird installation recommendations.
5. Each splice shall be constructed with sufficient slack to allow the splice to be raised 18" above the finish grade.
All splices, other than for VIH sprinklers, shall be installed inside a 10" round valve box with a black valve box cover and clearly noted on the construction and as built notes and drawing.
6. Wires to each VIH Integrated Control Module (ICM) shall be neatly folded and buried next to the VIH sprinklers.
7. The contractor shall identify and record the digital long address for each ICM at the time of making the field splice to each ICM. Each address shall be identified as noted on the as-staked installation drawings and provided to the Design Consultant on approved forms with other as built field notes.
8. The IC Trunk, major branch, and all minor branch routings to each ICM shall be clearly indicated on the construction field notes and submitted with the ICM digital address.
9. Each of the 2 primary IC wire paths shall be a distinct and different in color than other primary paths. In addition to the 2 primary trunk and branch path colors, a 3rd color shall be used for all secondary/lateral IC wire paths beginning at the 3-way splice for the lateral routing. This clearly indicates at all 3-way lateral splices location which wires are the primary path and which is the lateral wire run.
10. All 3-way lateral IC wire splices shall be made at the nearest sprinkler to the main line and primary branch routing.
11. The Contractor shall include in their bid all voltage regulation and surge devices recommended by Rain Bird.
12. There are buried utilities on the golf course which may not be indicated on the Contract Drawings. The Contractor shall be responsible to identify and to avoid such utilities. Special care, notification, and cooperation shall be provided in the coordination of all work related to the crossing of buried utilities.
