About this file

This is a General Requirements specification document for a federal construction subcontract project at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in Batavia, Illinois. The project, numbered 259950, involves ground bed and rectifier replacement (MIPV 01-02) and is managed by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (FFDG).

The subcontractor must replace an existing rectifier with a new unit and install a new cathodic protection (CP) groundbed system. Scope of work includes designing a replacement CP system, obtaining facility badging, mobilizing to the site, obtaining lockout/tagout (LOTO) for the existing rectifier, demolishing and removing the existing rectifier for onsite disposal, installing a new rectifier at the original location, drilling six 15-foot-deep anode holes approximately 6 feet from the structure, installing Anotec 2660Z cast iron anodes with RS-3 coke breeze, trenching from each anode hole to the rectifier (approximately 3 feet deep), routing individual anode leads back to the rectifier, backfilling and tamping trenches with burial ribbon installation, restoring the site, removing LOTO, energizing the rectifier, verifying proper CP system operation, setting rectifier output, recording readings, and providing as-built drawings. FFDG furnishes water access for hydrovac, right-of-way and environmental review approval, onsite disposal of hydrovac spoils and rectifier, all permitting, and existing CP records and drawings. The subcontractor must complete work within the specified milestones: rectifier installation and testing within five calendar days, and project completion within five additional calendar days. Weekly progress meetings are required unless reduced by FFDG, along with detailed documentation of punch list items, as-built drawings marked in red, and final acceptance submissions including warranty documentation and operations manuals. The subcontractor is responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, quality control, safety oversight, and supervision required to deliver a complete, functional cathodic protection system in compliance with industry standards and Fermilab requirements.
