About this file
This document is an Exhibit A Special Provisions and Specifications file from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the ER 2025 I-5: SB MP 109.5 Serpentine Rockfall Gabion Wall Repairs Project. The project involves repairing and realigning a gabion wall damaged by rockfall near Milepost 109.5 southbound on Interstate 5, with work including removal and replacement of damaged gabion baskets, realigning displaced baskets, refilling baskets with approved material, temporarily relocating concrete barriers, and installing three new concrete barrier sections. The project will be conducted using the 2024 Oregon Standard Specifications for Construction, with the primary project contact being Randy Camp, Transportation & Operations Maintenance Manager, who can be reached at Randy.CAMP@odot.oregon.gov or (541) 580-2539.
The specifications emphasize strict environmental protection requirements, particularly regarding water quality and pollutant prevention. The contractor must submit and obtain approval for a Traffic Control Plan and Temporary Pedestrian Accessible Route Plan before commencing work. Notably, material from the rockfall cannot be used as gabion fill due to the presence of naturally occurring asbestos. The project requires careful handling of materials, with specific guidelines for erosion control, environmental protection, and traffic management during the construction process. The Agency will provide three concrete barrier sections to be installed at the project site, with the contractor responsible for coordinating delivery and installation.
