About this file

The codes include initial annuity development, determinations, continuances, and reconsideration or appeal requests for employee annuitants, disability annuitants, retirement or survivor children, widows, surviving divorced spouses, disabled widows, and RUIA claimants. Corresponding solicitation 60RRBH23R0011 seeks disability medical examination services for initial annuity development and determinations, continuances, freeze or early Medicare determinations and continuances, reconsideration requests, and appeals for the Railroad Retirement Board. EXAMINATION REASON/BENEFICIARY TYPE
When an authorized orderer requests a consultative examination and/or an ancillary test, a numeric code will be used to identify the reason for examination and type of beneficiary. The first digit represents the reason for examination while the second digit identifies the type of beneficiary. For example, if the Disability Benefits Division (DBD) is initiating the request for an employee where an initial disability annuity determination is needed, a numeric code 22 will be used. These numeric codes will help to distinguish when reconsideration or an appeal determination is involved for your scheduling of an examining doctor for that type of case.
