About this file
This Addendum #1 to Invitation for Bid (IFB) #0006613, issued by the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) on behalf of the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) in Austin, Texas, addresses clarifications and updates to the dust collection system replacement project. The IFB solicits bids for a complete replacement dust collection system for the TSD woodshop, with mandatory pre-bid site visits held on February 11 and 12, 2026. The addendum provides responses to 13 questions submitted by potential bidders, including clarifications on equipment layout modifications, work scheduling (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with flexibility during summer break), contractor responsibilities for electrical technicians and criminal background checks, and confirmation that TSD will coordinate staging areas and dumpsters as needed. The original proposal deadline remains March 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM CT, with project commencement on June 8, 2026, and mandatory completion by July 31, 2026. A significant change addressed in the addendum is the removal of Option 1 for system exhaust outside due to HVAC load concerns, with the bid table updated to reflect this change.
The addendum requires acknowledgment of receipt and confirms that contractors are responsible for all criminal background check costs (approximately $42 per employee), which must be incorporated into bid pricing. Bidders may schedule follow-up site visits with the point of contact, Heather Goll, to coordinate with HVAC personnel regarding ductwork specifications. Questions regarding Health and Safety Plans (HSP) and the B2G submission system should be directed to designated TFC contacts: Shonte Gordon, David Delgado, Brent Maldonado, or Elton Price. The addendum includes sign-in sheets from mandatory site visits and maintains all other terms and conditions of the original IFB #0006613, including lump-sum pricing requirements with breakdowns for demolition, equipment, installation labor, and system selection options, along with bid bond (5% of bid amount), performance bond, and payment bond (both 100% of contract value) requirements.

IFB #: 0006613
TITLE: IFB for Replacement Dust Collection System – TSD Woodshop PROPOSAL DEADLINE: 03/05/2026 at 3:00PM CT
Addendum item #1: Post updated IFB document with revised specifications shown in red.
Addendum item #2: To answer questions received.
# QUESTION ANSWER
1 Can we get a layout of the room, so we know where the drops are and everything else?
This information should have been collected during the mandatory site visit.
2 Do you want anything new, is the layout going to be the same?
The duct work will need to be changed to fit the size, there will be a few modifications to the table saw.
The drop comes right next to the table, so we’re going to want it up against the wall with a detachable hose. Some minor modifications, but where the equipment sits now is where it’s going to stay.
3 How concrete is the July 31st date? Can adjustments be allowed due to equipment availability? Depending on what the actual final needs are, it may depend on whether it’s a custom-built machine versus something we can buy off the shelf.
Provide explanation within the bid for any extensions needed and why. Write out the time frame and provide explanation of possible delays.
4 Can we schedule a second site visit for dust machines with an HVAC person? Depending on the machine, the duct work could be different, so if I needed an HVAC person to come here to see how the new duct work would run would that be considered a second site visit or a follow-up on the first?
TSD is okay with follow-up. Please reach out to POC Heather Goll to set up the visit.
5 Are we responsible for our own electrical technician, or does TSD require that we use the school electrician?
Contractors are responsible for providing their own electrical technician.
6 Will there be certain times of day we will be allowed to work?
TSD general hours are 6:00AM to 6:00PM but they are open to some flexibility after 6:00PM during the summer when school is not in session.
7 Do you have an area for trash and a transition area for when equipment arrives? Is there a staging area?
TSD will work with the contractor when the time comes to stage for equipment as it arrives and for a dumpster or whatever contractor will need to haul off trash.
8 If we need clarification about what to submit for the HSP or questions about the B2G system, who can we contact?
Shonte Gordon – (512) 305-9269 Shonte.Gordon@tfc.texas.gov
David Delgado – (512) 608-1357 David.Delgado@tfc.texas.gov
Brent Maldonado – (512) 463-7473 Brent.Maldonado@tfc.texas.gov
Elton Price – (512) 744-7825 Elton.Price@tfc.texas.gov
9 Is the contractor responsible for cost for the criminal background checks?
Contractor is responsible for criminal background costs. It is about $42 per employee. These costs should be accounted for within your pricing.
10 Will the contractor be allowed to use restrooms onsite?
Since no classes will be held during the summer and no student will be in the area, contractor may use the restrooms onsite.
11 For every 400-500 CFM, there is one ton of load on the HVAC unit, are you sure you want it to exhaust outside?
TSD has decided to remove Option 1 for the system to exhaust outside. The IFB bid table has been updated to reflect this change.
12 Will permits be required? TCEQ may require permit for exhausting outside.
No longer applicable with the removal of the option to exhaust outside.
13 Can you provide the equipment ID number for the current dust collector?
Addendum item #3: Post sign-in sheets from the visits. Sign-in sheets begin on page 4.
All other aspects of the IFB # 0006613 remain as is.
