About this file
This is a scope of work document from the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) Radio Shop for the construction of a 40-foot monopole telecommunications tower at 11612 Scott Simpson Dr., El Paso TX 79936. The project requires construction of a steel tube tower meeting TIA 222-H design standards, with engineering plans to be provided by the bidder prior to construction. The tower will support Dragonwave antenna and radio equipment (which will be provided by TXDPS), including a 2-foot/60cm 11 GHz antenna and Harmony Enhanced radio. The installation requires a cable port entry/exit at approximately 12 feet height, with all feedlines to be inside the pole. TXDPS will coordinate parking lot blocking during construction, and a TXDPS technician must be notified 7 days before work begins to ensure on-site availability.
The technical specifications require hot-dipped galvanized steel construction per ASTM A123, with specific material requirements including 42 KSI minimum yield HSS round tube, 35 KSI minimum yield pipe, and 50 KSI minimum yield plate. Foundation options include either 3000 PSI concrete or crushed aggregate compacted to 95% standard proctor density. The tower is designed for clay soil conditions per TIA 222-H Annex F and has a 93% rating. Daily cleanup is required during construction with complete removal of all staging and debris upon project completion. The site location is shown in aerial photographs, depicting the installation area adjacent to a brick building with existing telecommunications infrastructure nearby.
