About this file

This document is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file for Bid #25-JG-045 issued by Pinellas County Schools (PCS) for Recycling & Disposal Services of End-of-Life Electronic Equipment. The bid covers the disposal and recycling of various electronic devices including Apple and Dell computers (Latitude, OptiPlex models), tablets, iPads, Microsoft Surface devices, and printers from multiple manufacturers like Lexmark, HP, Brother, Epson, and Xerox. The electronic equipment ranges in age from 3 to 40 years, with most systems being intact. The single pickup location is in Largo at the district's warehouse, and the district will provide labor for palletizing, stretch wrapping, and loading equipment onto trailers.

The bid requires a comprehensive audit trail, including certificates of data destruction and recycling. The district does not have a projected list of specific computer models for disposal and estimates the annual quantity as "1 or more" for each classification. Most monitors will be flat panel, and the schools classify equipment as "working" or "non-working" when turned in. Very few items are donated to community educational programs. The district requests Gaylord boxes and prefers a pallet exchange system. Potential vendors should note that while most systems will be complete, some may be missing hard drives or memory devices, and the contractor is obligated to destroy all information securely.
