About this file

This is a specifications document for an electrofishing work boat and trailer package issued by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR). The procurement requires the manufacture of a single 20-foot commercial-grade aluminum all-weld modified V-hull Jon boat with a flat nose, similar to the Oquawaka 2072V model previously built for Clemson University, paired with a custom aluminum tandem-axle trailer. The boat specifications include detailed requirements for hull construction using 0.190-inch marine-grade 5052 aluminum, a 26-inch side height with a 98-inch beam width, an interior raised floor, and a wash deck with a 12-inch standing platform. The vessel must include a steering console with a removable plexiglass windshield, a dry storage compartment, a 24-30 gallon aluminum fuel tank, navigation lights, a bilge pump system, and removable fish dividers to accommodate the electrofishing operational requirements. The document specifies that construction progress photographs must be submitted to Joshua.tompkins@ky.gov and that any design modifications require prior discussion and approval from KDFWR before implementation.

The specifications include a complete outboard motor installation consisting of a Yamaha 150HP four-stroke 25-inch shaft engine with hydraulic steering, trim and tilt capabilities, and associated control systems. The trailer must feature tandem 6,000-pound axles with electric over hydraulic brakes, drive-on style Durawood bunk boards, a heavy-duty adjustable winch stand with 2-inch by 25-foot nylon strap, 16-inch or larger galvanized-rim wheels, and comprehensive safety equipment including chains and tie-down systems. All hardware specifications emphasize stainless steel construction where possible to ensure corrosion resistance. The document notes that the generator stand design and final front railing configuration require consultation with KDFWR, indicating that ongoing coordination between the manufacturer and the agency will be necessary throughout the fabrication process to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
