CROWN TRANSMITTER DESCRIPTION

GENERAL

The entire system is delivered pre-wired and installed in a 19-inch rack mount cabinet. Program audio is normally supplied on a leased telephone line: control and monitoring functions are normally achieved with a dial-up telephone line. The Redundant Transmitter Controller (RTC) shares a dial-up line with an optional Remote Off-Air Monitoring System (ROAMS). Installation also requires connections to two primary AC power circuits and an antenna. Remote monitoring and control will require a computer with Crown software installed and a modem.

SPECIFICATIONS

Cabinet size: WRG100/300 - 23.65w x 28.4d x 45.54h (inches)

WRG1000V1 - 23.65w x 28.4d x 57.81h (inches) WRG1000V2 - 44.00w x 28.4d x 47.31h (inches)

Note: Cabinet size does not include the bandpass filter (cavity).

Primary power: WRG 100 and WRG300 systems require two 120 or 240 volt ac circuits; WRG1000 systems require two 208/240 volt ac circuits.

Telephone lines: One dial-up line with tone pad is required for monitor and control.

Operating environment: Temperature: -30°C to +50°C; humidity 10-95%; maximum altitude 15,000 feet.

Control and monitoring: ROAMS monitors and reports system status. Also, a microprocessor-based interface controls the system and monitors power output, SWR, power amplifier voltage and current, audio input level, deviation, primary ac voltage, and other critical parameters. Fault sensing initiates automatic switching of the transmitters.

Computer for remote operation: The minimum recommended computer is a Pentium based processor with 4 Gigabytes of RAM with 250 megabytes of free hard disk space, a serial RS-232C port, and a 56Kbaud modem. The system should run a 32 bit version of Windows 7 operating system.

Transmission mode: Narrowband FM

RF frequency range: 162.400 to 162.550 MHz in 25 kHz steps (12.5 kHz steps optional)

RF deviation: ±5 kHz (±2.5 kHz optional)

RF frequency stability: 0.0005%, -30°C to +50°C

RF power: WR100, 50-125 watts

WR300.\, 100-375 watts WR1000, 300-1250 watts

Power measured with a 50Ω non-reactive load.

Load mismatch protection: Auto-foldback occurs at 3:1 SWR

Output impedance: 50Ω unbalanced

Audio frequency resp: 100 Hz-5 kHz, w/in +1,-3 dB of 6dB per octave pre-emphasis

Audio distortion: Less than 1.0%

FM hum and noise: Better than -40 dB

AM noise: Better than -34 dB

Spurious emission: Better than -74 dB

Power consumption: WR100, 250VA at 100 watts output (each circuit)

WR300, 600VA at 300 watts output WR1000, 2500VA at 1000 watts output

MTBF: Better than 10,000 hours

Audio input: 600Ω balanced

Input level: -20 dBm to +5dBm for 5 ±kHz deviation
