Attachment J.2 Test Conditions

C.3.2.2.1 –Test Conditions

The SISA consists of a simulated vehicle bench seat (secondary carriage), with one seating position, and a simulated door assembly (primary carriage) as described previously. The simulated vehicle bench seat is mounted on rails to allow it to move relative to the floor of the SISA in the direction perpendicular to the seat orientation reference line (SORL). The SISA is mounted on a dynamic test platform so that the SORL of the seat is 10 degrees from the perpendicular direction of the test platform travel. The SISA is rotated counterclockwise if the impact side is on the left of the seating position and clockwise if the impact side is on the right of the seating position.

As illustrated in the SISA drawing package, attached to the SISA is a child restraint anchorage system conforming to the specifications of Standard No. 225 (§571.225). Accelerate the test platform to achieve a relative velocity (V0) of 31.3 ±0.8 km/h in the direction perpendicular to the SORL between the SISA bench seat and the door assembly at the time they come in contact (time=T0). The front face of the armrest on the door is 32 ± 2 mm from the edge of the seat towards the SORL at time=T0. The relative velocity profile of the intruding door with respect to the sliding seat shall be within the relative velocity corridor shown in Figure 3. The change in velocity of the bench seat is 31.3 ± 1.0 km/h and the bench seat acceleration perpendicular to the SORL is within the corridor shown in Figure 4.

Table 1–Critical Parameters and Tolerances

Accelerate the test platform to achieve a relative velocity (V0) of 31.3 ±0.8 km/h in the direction perpendicular to the SORL between the SISA bench seat and the door assembly at the time they come in contact (time=T0).

The relative velocity profile of the intruding door with respect to the sliding seat shall be within the relative velocity corridor shown in Figure 3.

The change in velocity of the bench seat is 31.3 ± 1.0 km/h and the bench seat acceleration perpendicular to the SORL is within the specified corridor (Figure 4) The fixture angle shall be ten (10) degrees with an angle tolerance of ± 1 degree The sled carriage shall have obtained a zero (0) velocity prior to impact by the secondary (sliding seat) carriage [Sled pulse shall be a half sine with a peak acceleration (deceleration) of 28 g] A seat-to-honeycomb spacing as required to meet target test parameters The sled data channel properly record data during the testing. The critical channel include the accelerometers located on the rear leg of the sliding seat and the accelerometer on the sled interface that is measured for acceleration and velocity (X, Y, and Z directions) The sled buck and door acceleration/velocity profiles (without the CRS installed) shall match the respective corridors.

The front face of the armrest on the door is 32 ± 2 mm from the edge of the seat towards the SORL at time=T0.
