Side Impact Decelerating Sled Reproducibility Testing Amendment 000001 Responses to Questions and Answers
RFP DTNH2215R00015, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Responses to Questions and Answers
QUESTION 1:
Regarding the Side Impact Buck per the NRPM:
a. In regards to Section M.2(A), if the Side Impact Buck has been constructed according to the NPRM, will it need to be modified to include the VRTC changes to date?
b. Will we be able to use shocks as opposed to a flip foot?
c. Will we be able to use a hi-tension potentiometer for bench velocity?
NHTSA Response:
a. Yes, the offeror’s Side Impact sled buck must meet the buck specifications provided in the NPRM. Any modification to the sled buck since publication of the NPRM will be incorporated with the proposed testing. The offeror should approximate a maximum cost of $3000.
b. The goal of the proposed testing is to demonstrate that various labs can reproduce test results from the VRTC HYGE. It is best to control and minimize as many differences between the two types of systems. NHTSA does not specify design requirements. Therefore, the offeror must provide test results that demonstrate that all proposed requirements (corridors, etc.) in the NPRM were met using shocks in lieu of a flip foot. Data results may be submitted with the proposal in ASCII and/or Diadem format.
c. The hi-tension potentiometer can be used only as a secondary measure of the velocity.
QUESTION 2:

NHTSA-213-2011,” dated June 2012.
Question: Can you please provide a PDF copy of the Engineering Drawing Package for the Side Impact Seat Assembly (SISA)?
NHTSA Response:
