About this file
This Construction Addendum No. 01 issued by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) Design & Construction Division clarifies and modifies the bidding documents for the Saugatuck Dunes State Park Storage Building project managed by Schley Nelson Architects. The addendum, dated July 9, 2026, was issued in response to a mandatory pre-bid meeting held on July 7, 2026, which bidders were required to attend and sign in to participate. The bid opening date remains unchanged at July 15, 2026. The project scope includes construction of a new storage building at Saugatuck Dunes State Park in Saugatuck, Michigan, with the park remaining operational during construction. The contractor is responsible for jobsite security and all associated equipment and tools. Schley Nelson Architects, represented by Project Director Josiah L. Meyers, oversees the project specifications and approvals.
The addendum introduces two new work scope items and three clarification items that bidders must incorporate into their proposals. Added scope includes installation of three 1.5-inch diameter conduits extending from the electrical panel under the floor slab and five feet beyond the building, capped and buried, and upgrading the well pump from 0.5 horsepower to 0.75 horsepower to accommodate future public water capacity at ten gallons per minute. Clarifications address contractor responsibility for submitting final applications to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and Allegan County Health Department for water and sewage systems, optional upgrades to metal wall panel gauges and plywood alternatives to purlins, and detailed specifications for custom aluminum wrapping of overhead door jambs. The addendum references basis of design specifications for Fabral metal roofing, wall panels, and soffit materials and includes draft permit applications for the public water supply and onsite sewage disposal systems that require contractor completion and submission.

DTMB Schley Nelson Architects DNR 4200 S. 9th St., P.O. Box 239 New Storage Building Oshtemo, Michigan 49077 Saugatuck Dunes State Park, Saugatuck Dunes, MI S.A. Project No. 25-170 File No. 751/25468.JLM Issued July 09, 2026
ADDENDUM NO. 1
SPECIAL NOTE
The Standard Form of the General Conditions of the Contract, AIA Document A-201 as defined by the American Institute of Architects, the General Requirements and the Project Manual are a part of this document, and each Contractor shall consult them in detail for instructions pertaining to his work. Failure of the Contractor to consult these documents shall not relieve him of his obligations thereto.
SCOPE OF WORK
The attached items are changes and/or clarifications to the drawings and MICHSPEC, and shall be noted by the Contractor in making up his proposal. All of these items shall be considered a part of the Contract Documents.
The following items and attachments refer to the drawings and DCSPEC dated June 15, 2026.
Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting:
A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on July 7, 2026 at 10:00 am local time. Contractors submitting a bid must have signed in as evidence of attendance. An individual can only represent one bidder at a mandatory pre-bid meeting.
The park will remain open during construction. The contractor is responsible for securing the jobsite and all tools and equipment associated with the construction.
Added Work Scope Items:
Item No. 1:
The Owner has requested the addition of (3) three 1-1/2” diameter conduits be installed from the electrical panel down under the floor slab and extending out of the building 5’-0” and capped and buried. Indicate location on “as-built” drawings for the owner’s record. An electrical handhole or pull box is not required at the conduit termination.
Item No. 2:
The Owner has requested the ability to add a future public water source. The application to install or alter a public water system has been prepared using a 0.5 horsepower well pump with a 10 gpm capability and pressure tank. To accommodate the future public water source, increase the well pump to 0.75 horsepower. The electrical panel has been designed for up to a 1 horsepower well pump. No electrical changes required for this upgraded well pump.
Clarification Items:
Item No. 3:
The Contractor will make the final submittal of the EGLE Application to Install or Alter a Public Water Supply System, and Allegan County Health Department Application for Onsite Water and/or Sewage Disposal Systems. The DRAFT applications are attached to this addendum. The applications have a space for the Contractor to fill in their name and contact information.
Item No. 4:
For clarification, the “basis of design” metal roof panels, metal wall panels and metal soffit panels have been attached for your reference and for clarification.
Contractor has the option to increase the gauge of the “basis of design” metal wall panels from 29 gauge to 24 gauge.
Contractor has the option to install 5/8” plywood in lieu of 2x4 purlins at 24” o.c to meet the UL90 uplift specified. If plywood is installed, also install an underlayment similar to Sharkskin synthetic underlayment or 15 lb asphalt felt. The “basis of design” roof panel meets the uplift specified using 2x4 purlins at 24” o.c.
Item No. 5:
The overhead door jambs are to be wrapped with custom-bent aluminum coil stock in a color to be selected by the owner. Overlap pieces from the top down to shed water. Wrap the aluminum around the inside and outside face of the jamb 1-1/2”. Cap the edge nearest the siding with a J-channel to hide raw metal cuts. Caulk joint behind the aluminum wrap at sides, top and bottom. Fasten with color-matched painted 1-inch pancake-head screws flush against the aluminum wrap every 12 inches on center on both the front face and the inside edge of the jamb.
