LOCATION / DESCRIPTION
Location:
Throughout the vessel
Description:
Miscellaneous valves sizes and types of valves in various locations to be renewed to replace those in service that no longer reliably secure a section of the flushing system
GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT / MATERIAL / SERVICES

STATEMENT OF WORK
Justification: Cruise FY14 presented multiple sewage system problems that were complicated due the fact that individual areas of the ship could not be isolated which required a complete system shutdown to accomplish the work. Ship's aging saltwater piping requires continued maintenance and repair work. There is presently no means to isolate smaller zones of the living spaces rather than using existing valves that isolate an entire house.
In addition, one section of piping shall be removed from the overhead of an 02 port side fwd house state room living space and re-routed through the overhead of the adjacent passageway.
A hydrodynamic tank shall be installed on the end run of piping that serves the 03 deck forward house. This tank shall serve as a cushion to dynamic shock that salt water flushing pipework in the forward house presently endures.
The following areas are targeted as best places in the saltwater flushing pipework to install new “Ball Type” isolating valves.
01-151-02 ( passageway overhead ) - 1 1/4" 150# flanged brass ball valve
1-122-02 ( passageway overhead ) - 2" 150# flanged brass ball valve
1-137-01 (passageway overhead ) - 2" 150# flanged brass ball valve
1-121-01 ( stbd passageway overhead) - 1" brass ball valve brazed union connection
01-136-01 (cleaning gear locker overhead) - Crop out existing 1 1/4 gate type valve ....install new 1 1/4 brass ball valves brazed union connection
01-66-00 (Linen Locker overhead) - 2" 150# flanged brass ball valve
01-72-02 (passageway overhead ) - 2" 150# flanged brass ball valve
01-57-02 (passageway overhead ) - 2" 150# flanged brass ball valve
02-137 -01 (cleaing gear locker) - crop out existing 1 1/4" gate valves ....install new 1 1/4 brass ball valves brazed union connections.
02-110-01 (passageway) - 1 1/2 " ball valve brazed union connection
02-77-02 (passageway) - crop out existing gate valve and replace with new 1 1/2" brass ball valve brazed union connection.
03-119-02 ( passageway overhead ) - 1 1/2" brass ball valve brazed union connection
03-119-01 ( passageway overhead ) - 1- 1/4" brass ball valve brazed union connection
03-53-02 proposed space to install hydro tank on piping run
TBD – 4 Each Master shutoff valves (2 each in forward house and 2 each in after house) These are to supplement the individual area shutoff valves but are to be placed in the main supply lines feeding the forward and after houses
DELIVERABLES
Manufacturers bulletins for valves supplied by the contactor with supplier and spare parts information
ADDITIONAL WORK AND SUPPLEMENTARY
Contractor to submit a written Condition Found report (CFR) to the COTR for any additional work outside the contract. Approval for additional work must be approved by either the COTR ($5000 or less) or the Contracting Officer (over $5000)

Strip and dry tank in preparation for mechanical surface preparation.
Once all areas in any given tank have been water blasted, cleaned and areas of extreme corrosion identified, provide tank for examination by COR and Chief Engineer for verification of readiness.
Re-Mask and protect all items inside and outside the tanks which could be adversely affected by FW blasting. Items to be masked include (though not exclusively) electrical wiring, and TLI system components inside the tank and equipment, machinery etc. that may be affected outside the tanks.
Using Mechanical scaling of the internal surfaces including manhole covers to an SSPC-SP-(3) standard to remove all loose paint and surface contamination and to provide a profile for paint application. Tightly adhering coatings and scale and rust may remain. Contractor shall be responsible for erection and removal of all necessary scaffolding and removal completely from vessel and facility and proper disposal of any debris or by-products generated.
After mechanical scaling, sounding tubes, piping and striker plates within the tanks shall be inspected and a written report shall be delivered to COR and Chief Engineer noting condition. Particular notice shall be given to blind sides of piping behind brackets and adjacent to tank internals for the presence of pitting and wastage
Inspect tank ladders for condition of rails, rungs, stanchions and fasteners. Report findings to COR along with any repair recommendations.
Inspect tanks for any areas of extreme corrosion or wastage. If any pitting is noted in tanks mark uniquely. If pitting is found to be 1/8 inch or deeper make special notation and provide COR a report of findings. Pits over 1/8 inch deep will be clad welded under a separate item.
Pits as described above may be suspected of being associated with microbial pitting and will be addressed as follows under a separate item. Prior to coating application in tanks all pits shall be fully cleaned out via mechanical scaling removing any remaining paint coating that exist after grit blasting. They shall be wiped clean with hypochlorite solution. After preparation and gas-freeing of adjacent spaces, they will be clad-welded and ground smooth. Coating of involved surfaces shall continue as per basic item.
Coat tank in areas prepared above. Coating system shall be high solids epoxy of Ameron, International paints or other MARAD approved coatings equal to or better than as follows:

Prior to the start of the work, the contractor shall obtain all pertinent manufacturers’ coating application procedures and data sheets. A paint schedule showing the type of coating for each coating system in this specification shall be provided to the COR. Dry film thickness (millage) may vary slightly between those specified herein. It is the intent that proper millage shall be applied in accordance with products technical direction.
In conjunction with the contractor's supervision, application of all coating will be accomplished under the direct supervision of the coating systems manufacturers’ representative and to the satisfaction of the owner's representative. No application of coatings is to be made until the prepared surfaces or previously coated surfaces are accepted as ready by the coating systems manufacturers’ representative and owner's representative. The contractor is to arrange an inspection by the coating systems manufacturers’ representative, COR or Chief Engineer prior to the application of any of the specified coatings.
Contractor shall provide instruments during all phases of this item to insure dew point and surface temperature readings are monitored. Contractor shall maintain a logbook, which shall become the property of the Owner at redelivery of the vessel.
Temporarily blank, mask or plug any penetrations from work areas into ship (including but not limited to equipment, machinery, port-lights, windows, doors, manholes, scuttles, drains and vents), in order to prevent intrusion of any water blasting, dirt, removed material or paint while abrasive grit blasting or spray painting is in progress and maintain such an envelope until completion of such work.
Prior to commencing work, contractor shall conduct a joint inspection with the Owners Representative and Contractor's representative to verify that proper protection of all areas of the vessel and proper masking of areas not to be coated, has been satisfactory accomplished.
