This work also consists of the erection of awning supports.

Construction Requirements

557.03 General. Add the following:

Replace or reuse existing awning supports using structurally sound materials. Replace supports using types indicated in Plans. Include stone masonry cobble facings with awning supports that have existing stone masonry cobble facings.

Dispose of all removed materials according to Subsection 203.05.

Provide temporary works according to Section 562.

Measurement

557.20. Add the following:

Do not measure removal of awning support for payment.

Do not measure stone masonry cobble facings for payment.

Revised by Amendment A003

F-61

615.05 Asphalt Concrete Sidewalks, Drive Pads, and Medians. Add the following:

Provide L-shaped aluminum or plastic edge restraints (black) along sidewalk edges where the asphalt is not retained by curbing, edging, or other structures. Submit a sample of the proposed product to the CO, two weeks prior to construction of sidewalks. When approved by the CO, install the edge restraints according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Backfill the restraints with soil material to complete the installation.

For mud finish, brush finished asphalt sidewalk with soil or sand, as approved by the CO, after final compaction. At completion, remove excess material.

615.06 Brick Sidewalks, Drive Pads, and Medians. Delete this Subsection and substitute the following:

(a) Provide and install precast concrete pavers where specified in the Plans. The following manufacturers produce an acceptable concrete paver that may be incorporated into the work:

Mutual Materials, Bellevue, Washington 800-477-3008. Holland Paver.

Borgert Products, Inc, Denver, CO 80221 303-783-3864. Double Holland.

Identification by brand name is intended to be descriptive, not restrictive, and is intended to indicate the quality and characteristics of products that will be satisfactory. Other products meeting the following salient characteristics will also be acceptable. Submit samples of proposed products for CO approval prior to ordering.

Paver Requirements:

(1) Comply with ASTM C936-96;

(2) Compressive strength 8,000 psi;

(3) Nominal Square dimensions: 8-inch by 8-inch Double Holland Paver; and

(4) Charcoal paver color.

(b) Foundation preparation. Perform work under Section 209. Place Geotextile fabric according to Section 207. Place roadway aggregate according to Section 308. Place bedding sand at a 1-inch depth. Maintain sand moisture content at 3-7 percent during installation.

Spread and screed level to a 1:500 tolerance. Do not allow foot traffic or vehicular traffic on bedding sand. Do not compact bedding prior to paver installation.

(c) Paver installation. Construct test sections for at each paver location. Test sections may be incorporated in the work if approved by the CO. Provide 40 square feet test sections for items measured by the square foot. Establish pattern layout direction and create markings for directional reference of joints and string lines. Set first course of pavers ⅛-inch from edge restraint. Set pavers with nominal 1/16-inch to ⅛-inch joints between abutting units.

Carefully align joints to maintain straight lines. Cut and fit closure units leaving residual gaps not exceeding ¼-inch. Use mechanical splitter or power masonry saw to provide a clean continuous edge cut.

F-72

Do not install stone masonry cap until supporting structure has attained minimum allowable design compressive strength. Install clips, anchors, and other accessories required for connecting stone masonry cap to supporting members as shown in the Plans. Erect stone masonry cap level, plumb, and square within specified allowable tolerances. Provide temporary supports and bracing as required to maintain position, stability, and alignment as units are being permanently connected. Install temporary steel or plastic spacing shims or bearing pads to maintain horizontal and vertical joint alignment and uniform joint width as erection progresses.

The length of the stone masonry cap shall be between 2’-4’.

Remove projecting lifting devices and grout fill voids within recessed lifting devices flush with surface of adjacent precast surfaces when recess is exposed. Unless otherwise indicated, maintain uniform joint widths of ½ inch.

Repair or replace any damaged stone masonry caps damaged by construction operations at no cost to the Government.

Stone masonry cap must be stable for 30 days prior to final acceptance.

(b) Government provided precast concrete caps. Install Government provided precast concrete caps as follows:

If Schedule B is accepted, the Park Service will furnish precast concrete caps for installation, which will replace the stone masonry caps as stated in Subsection 620.09A(a). These government-provided precast concrete caps will be ready for delivery by September 18, 2015. Submit to the CO a 14-day notice requesting availability of Government furnished materials. Materials will be made available to the Contractor at the project site. Protect Government provided materials from damage until time of acceptance.

G-25

(6) Tensile Strength: Minimum 300 psi after 28 days (ASTM C190);

(7) Flexural Strength: Minimum 988 psi after 28 days (ASTM C348); and

(8) Compressive Strength: Minimum 4,000 psi after 28 days (ASTM C109).

725.30 Animal Guards for Storm Sewer Outlets. (Add Subsection).

Provide animal guards with all stainless steel construction. Vertical steel bars are attached to a single horizontal square steel frame. Bars are spaced 1.125 inch and are long enough to effectively block full pipe diameter. Install with a steel rod extending through the frame and then through the pipe. Position far enough in the pipe to allow it to swivel up and pass debris without exposing the animal guard beyond the pipe end. Ensure that the animal guards freely pivot the full range of the pipe diameter and freely falls to a resting position that effectively blocks the full pipe diameter. Install according to the manufactures recommendations.

725.31 Triangle Wire Ties. (Added Subsection).

Furnish ¼-inch diameter hot dip galvanized triangle wire ties conforming to ASTM A 153, Class B-2 (1.50 oz/ft2). Fabricate triangle ties to the dimensions shown on the plans.

725.32 Insulation Board, Polystyrene Foam. (Added Subsection).

Furnish extruded polystyrene foam insulation board conforming to ASTM C578, Type VI.

725.33 Rigid Polyurethane Pipe Insulation. (Added Subsection).

Furnish a rigid polyurethane pipe insulation system meeting the following requirements:

(a) Insulation.

(1) Density ≥ 2.0 lbs/ft3

(2) “K” Factor, ASTM C 518 ≤ 0.16 @ 75°F

(3) Closed Cell Content 90-95%

(4) Thickness ≥ 2 inches

(b) Jacket. Encase the polyurethane insulation with a Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) jacket.

725.34 Detectable Warning Tile. (Added Subsection).

Provide cast iron tactile warning surfaces that comply with 705 Detectable Warnings of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards. Tiles shall be painted with powder coating or other approved method. Paint will be dark grey in color. Contractor to present color sample for approval prior to purchase.

725.35 Detectable Warning Tape. (Added Subsection).
