NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE OFFERORS

RE: MT PRA GLAC 10(39)

GTSR Rehabilitation, Siyeh Bend to Rising Sun, Phase XII Solicitation No. DTFH70-12-R-00007

The attached preliminary plans are being furnished to aid prospective offerors in identifying the location and type of work for this project. The project will be advertised during a period when viewing of the project is not possible due to snow. Therefore, prospective offerors are encouraged to view the project during fall as conditions permit. No Federal Highway Administration personnel will be available for show-me tours.

While it is not required, we highly recommend that you videotape the entire project for your use during the estimating phase. We have received good feedback from contractors who have done this in the past.

The project may be viewed Monday through Sunday. Access to the project site will be available from the St. Mary Entrance only, as the west side of the Park will be closed at Avalanche Creek (approximate Milepost 16.5) on September 16, 2012. Winter weather may further restrict access to the project site. While these restrictions could occur at any time, winter related restrictions have historically occurred during mid to late October. Winter weather related restrictions could include roadway controlled access (gated locations) and/or seasonal roadway shut down. It is recommended that you monitor the situation and if needed/allowed, access can be requested by calling Glacier National Park (406-888-7801) between the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, local time.

Multiple Schedules – This project is being bid under 2 schedules. The base schedule will be awarded initially. The option schedule will be awarded no later than summer of 2013. All option schedule work will occur within the limits of the base schedule. The base schedule includes all earthwork, sub excavation, culverts, and bridge construction. Option A adds roadway pulverization, pull outs, guardwalls, barriers, transit stops and final paving.

Project Location and Type of Work - All project work is located in Glacier National Park, Glacier County, Montana

This project begins at approximate Milepost 34 on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and heads eastbound. The work ends at approximate Milepost 44. Glacier National Park is located approximately 17.6 miles northeast of Columbia Falls, in Glacier County, Montana. The project consists of grading, drainage, base, paving, stone masonry guardwalls, bridge replacement, and

September 14, 2012 retaining walls. For this contract to match historical color variation in the stone masonry there will be a higher percentage of red and green argillite stone requirements and there is no government-provided masonry source on the east side other than salvaging from existing stone masonry sections to be reconstructed. Additionally, the West Side Ballfield stone masonry stockpiles will be available for use but coordination with HK Contractors is required to determine volume and types of available material. Masonry contractors are advised to conduct a thorough assessment of stone masonry needs prior to bidding. It was designed using U.S.
