About this file

This is a Feature Work List for the DRUM Little Long North Project in Colorado, detailing mine opening closure work specifications and requirements for multiple sites across the project area. The document outlines 34 distinct work features involving the closure of abandoned mine openings, including adits, shafts, subsidence features, and vents located at sites such as Mesa 3, Modeen, Roosevelt, Inspiration, Yorkton, Early Morn, Windswept, Cycle 3, Lost, Cottonwood, Happy Jack, Little Jewell, Morning Star, Red Bird Yellowbird, and Sylvia. Each feature includes specific closure methods such as bulkheads, bat grates, cable nets, polyurethane foam (PUF) backfill, corrugated steel pipes, and combinations thereof. Work specifications reference Standard Work Specifications (SWS) ranging from SWS 2 to SWS 16 and corresponding standard drawings, with detailed descriptions of mine opening dimensions (both excavated and present conditions), depths, lining materials, and precise UTM coordinates (NAD83) for site locations.

The work list identifies equipment access availability for each site, ranging from no access requiring 400-1,500 foot walks to sites with available equipment access within 100-600 feet. Multiple features are designated as National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligible, requiring appropriate consideration during execution. Special site-specific conditions and constraints are documented, including thin roof conditions, bird nests, stacked rock walls, inscriptions, subsidence areas, and environmental considerations such as bat exclusion requirements prior to closure. The project involves hand labor, mini excavator work where permitted, and specialized materials including polyurethane foam quantities ranging from 0.5 to 7 cubic yards per site, corrugated steel pipes in various diameters, and cable netting systems with bat access windows. Notes indicate coordination requirements with the Project Manager, BLM approval for certain access routes, and disposal procedures for removed materials including landfill ticket submission documentation.
