A1.01 General / Allgemein

During an inspection by the fire department, Building 8401 was found to have fire safety deficiencies.

This project therefore will replace selected doors and gates to ensure that people can evacuate at any time. The currently installed doors are completely outdated and can be locked, which is not permitted.

In addition, paving work will be carried out as part of this project to ensure that escape routes outside the building are secure. Lighting for the pathways will also be added.

Furthermore, the existing fire alarm system is to be expanded.

Title/Titel: A2 GENERAL CONDITIONS / ALLGEMEINE BEDINGUNGEN

A2.01 Material / Stoffe

All work shall include the delivery of the pertinent materials and structural elements including unloading and storage on the job site, unless required otherwise in the specifications.

It is required that material and structural elements to be furnished and installed by the contractor be of unused condition. They must be suitable for their respective purpose of use. Material and structural parts which are subject to DIN-Standards must meet the DIN- Regulations as to both quality and dimension. Measurements required for the preparation of as-built plans and accounting procedures shall be taken, in cooperation with the COR, on the job site.

A2.02 VOB part C / VOB Teil C

It is mandatory that all services, as well as all appertaining materials and components, comply with the German General Technical Provisions for construction services (VOB Teil C). The use of asbestos-containing material is prohibited.

Alle Leistungen und die dazugehörigen Stoffe und Bauteile müssen den "Allgemeinen Technischen Vorschriften für Bauleistungen" (VOB Teil C) entsprechen. Die Verwendung von asbesthaltigem Material ist untersagt.

A2.03 Removal Material / Auszubauende Materialien

Removal material will become the contractor's property, unless otherwise stated in the specifications. Upon takeover of the removal material, the contractor will be fully responsible for disposal to final deposit. The contractor shall be solely responsible for complying with all pertinent regulations and ensuring that a classification to determine the respective type of hazardous material is performed. The selection of the dumping ground is also the contractor's responsibility; he has to submit (in writing) all approvals for final deposit from authorized agencies to the COR, prior to start of work. In addition to structural parts removed, the term 'removal material' includes all other materials to be removed. These in turn include excavated ground material, debris, packing materials, Project-No.: BMH- EXC-B0519-6P, Repair Doors PX Bldg. 8401 Page 7 of 50 waste, etc. These type of work are part of the contractor's services to be performed also without being explicitly mentioned in the respective items. Burning of any of the above materials at the job site is prohibited.

A2.04 Existing Lines / Vorhandene Leitungen

In case execution of this project requires disconnection or alteration of existing lines, the contractor has to notify the COR via email one (1) week beforehand. The COR will make appropriate arrangements to obtain approval and to perform the measures required.

A2.05 Digging Permit / Grabegenehmigung

Prior to start of work, the contractor has to obtain (in writing) sufficient information from the corresponding authorized agencies about the location of all existing underground lines, such as sewer, water supply, gas supply, telephone and electrical lines.

The COR will coordinate all action to obtain this information. Essentially, the following agencies shall be contacted:

102nd Signal Battalion, Network Service Center, at Baumholder (telecommunications lines of the U.S. Forces)

Utilities Division of the DPW Baumholder (electrical cables, water lines, and district heat system)

German "Telekom" (underground telephone cables) Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundeswehr) at Camp

Firm TKS at Kaiserslautern (television cables) "Verbandsgemeinde" Baumholder (sewer channels, electrical cables) OIE at Idar-Oberstein (long-distance heating lines, electrical cables, gas supply lines)

On the basis of the information obtained, the exact locations shall be determined by means of detectors, search trenches or other suitable equipment and/or appliances and be marked prior to start of work. In addition, the entire working area shall be searched for lines by the contractor not discernible from the information obtained. The information obtained from the aforementioned agencies will not exempt the contractor from this obligation. The contractor shall ensure - by appropriate measures - that damages to the lines will not occur; he will be liable in case of damages. Moreover, the COR and agencies responsible for these lines have to be notified within two (2) hours of damage via phone call with a follow up email within 4 hours. All required services resulting from this stipulation will become part of the scope of services to be accomplished by the contractor, unless further items are provided herefor.

Project-No.: BMH- EXC-B0519-6P, Repair Doors PX Bldg. B3.01 General Remarks / Allgemeine Hinweise

The following guidelines must be observed when planning and carrying out the work:

The work will be carried out while the store remains open; this means that both staff and customers will be present in the store

It must be ensured that all doors and openings can be locked or secured when the store closes

Close coordination with the COR and the fire department is required if a door is temporarily unavailable as an escape route. Emergency exit signs must be temporarily changed/covered, etc.

The attached door list serves as the basis for the contractors work and installation planning for the doors. The contractor shall create their own door list based on the attached door list and add the necessary details. In addition, documentation for sampling must be submitted for each door type. The documentation must fully describe the door type and include details regarding the frame, door leaf, color scheme, handle, knob, lock, door closer, hinges, door stop, etc. Selected features of the doors must be clearly marked in the manufacturers data sheets. Each door must be drawn in detail to a meaningful scale. Incomplete documentation will not be accepted.

The contractor shall propose suitable doors for the respective intended use.

The new doors must comply with the requirements of the fire protection concept

The dimensions listed in the door schedule are approximate and provided for general reference only. The contractor shall take their own measurements.

Based on the on-site conditions, the contractor shall submit shop drawings showing the door frame (surrounding frame, corner frame, or block frame) and the installation layout.

If the doors do not conform to standard dimensions, custom sizes must be used. It is not intended to reduce the existing opening sizes.

In the area of the new doors, both sides of the walls must be plastered and painted.

Match the new surface to the existing finish, which may involve adding wallpaper or similar materials. If necessary, corner rails, plaster finishing rails, etc., must be used.

The new paint finish must match the existing finish. If this is not possible, a frame of approximately 50 cm to 100 cm should be constructed around the perimeter of the new opening.

The contractor will document the existing condition before work begins. Care must be taken to ensure that, for example, existing damage or soilingsuch as on the carpetis documented.

Project-No.: BMH- EXC-B0519-6P, Repair Doors PX Bldg. 8401 Page 16 of 50

Each door has its own specific features. See the door list. The door list is an integral part of the contract.

In general, the following components should be used:

Exterior doors must be insulated with a U-value of max. 1.8 (W/m²K)

DIN right/left will be specified in the shop drawings, to be checked and approved by the COR

Sound insulation requirements: in accordance with current guidelines

Panic locks for exterior doors leading to sales areas or storage areas, with self-
