About this file

This document is a detailed technical compliance crosswalk for the Next Generation Surface Search Radar (NXSSR) system, outlining comprehensive hardware and software specifications for a new radar system for the U.S. Coast Guard. The crosswalk covers extensive technical requirements across multiple domains including hardware specifications, processor interfaces, display characteristics, target tracking, navigation tools, system interfaces, and operational controls, with each specification marked as either a minimum threshold or an objective capability.

The technical requirements span critical areas such as flat panel displays, antenna turning units, processor capabilities, target tracking performance, environmental compliance, human factors design, alert management, and interface standards. The system is designed to replace five existing radar systems currently used across 13 cutter platforms and 113 Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) remote sites, with specifications addressing maritime navigation, collision avoidance, situational awareness, and compatibility with international maritime standards like IMO MSC.191(79) and IEC protocols. Specific technical capabilities include tracking up to 1000 radar targets, supporting AIS integrations, operating in diverse environmental conditions, and providing advanced features like trial maneuvers and intercept solutions.
