About this file

This document is a specification for Temporary Production Facilities (TPF) consisting of 8-foot by 40-foot shipping container-style equipment enclosures to support Norfolk Naval Shipyard project teams. The contractor shall design, fabricate, deliver, and provide on-site assistance for these units in accordance with specified quantities, locations, and delivery dates outlined in the accompanying Statement of Work.

The TPF must meet strict construction and performance requirements, including non-combustible steel frame construction, stackability to two units high, and hurricane-proofing to 110-mph wind speeds. Geometric specifications require minimum interior dimensions of 39 feet length, 7 feet width, and 8 feet height. Construction details mandate 26-gauge painted carbon steel exterior walls with R15 minimum insulation, welded seams, smooth painted interiors, and specific paint specifications (Haze Grey exterior, white interior). The units must include three insulated roll-up doors with perimeter dock seals and D-rings, flanged end connections with personnel access doors, five duplex electrical outlets, minimum four LED light fixtures, four ventilation penetrations with security barriers, and a steel or industrial flooring rated for 125 PSF live load. All fasteners must be captivated to prevent loosening. The contractor must provide as-built drawings in paper, PDF, and DWG formats upon delivery. Units must be liftable by forklift with pockets no greater than 92 inches apart and by crane from corner fittings, with gross weight and center-of-gravity location clearly marked. Compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria, NFPA codes, International Building Code, ADA standards, and EM 385-1-1 safety requirements is mandatory. Post-delivery government inspection will verify adherence to specifications, with ten business days allowed for contractor correction of discrepancies at contractor cost.
