In accordance with the interior fire alarm and detection system, the contractor will be responsible for displaying proper operation of the fire alarm device.

10.13. Provide one (1) 60-watt exterior surface mounted fluorescent light fixture (shielded) adjacent to every exterior door in all units. Contractor may utilize an LED light fixture on the exterior of each trailer if it meets the requirements described.

11. FACILITY INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL:

11.1. NNSY personnel will set up the facilities.

12. FACILITY RELOCATION

12.1. In emergent situations, Norfolk Naval Shipyard may be required to relocate the TPF’s. The following must be provided:

Units shall be fitted with suitable attachments for overhead lifting as defined:

Single Point Lifts: the lifting attachment shall be capable of supporting the gross weight of the facility with a design factor of five-to-one based on ultimate strength. The lifting attachment shall accept a standard shackle (Federal Specification RR-C-271D, type IVA) which is capable of supporting the gross weight of the facility.

Multiple Point Lifts: each lifting attachment shall be capable of supporting one-half the gross weight of the facility with a design factor of five-to-one. Each lifting attachment shall be designed to accept a standard anchor shackle (Federal Specification RR-C-271D, type IVA) which is capable of supporting one-half the gross weight of the facility.

Design of the lifting attachments shall be such that the attachments and shackles are not side loaded more than 10-degrees outside the plane of the attachment, unless specified by the manufacturer. Lifting attachments shall be located such that the lifting slings do not contact the equipment. Whenever practical, the lifting attachments shall be located above the center of gravity, such that the lifting slings do not contact the facility.

If necessary, a spreader beam certified to NAVFAC P-307 shall be provided by the contractor. The contractor is also to provide the gear for the lower rigging from the spreader beam.

12.2. The facilities shall be marked in a prominent location with the gross weight.

12.3. The facilities shall be provided with a lifting sketch/rigging diagram that meets the requirements of section (13).

The lifting sketch shall detail any specific requirements and/or configurations, that must be met prior to lifting (i.e., “engage swing lock”, “tilt mast back fully”, “rotate lifting basket over side”, “utilize 10’ minimum length slings”, “spreader beam required”, etc.).

12.14. Permanently affixed isometric diagram shall be placed near the gross weight label and shall include:

Show one (1) individual unit.

Show center of gravity location.

List manufacturer and gross weight.

Indicate minimum standard anchor shackle size and minimum sling length.

Provide three (3) paper copies of the isometric rigging diagram to the shipyard POC.

13. LIFTING SKETCH REQUIREMENTS

13.1. Lifting sketches, as a minimum, shall identify the following:

The weight of the load The location of the center of gravity The minimum crane capacity The minimum capacity/length of slings The minimum capacity of other standard rigging gear The attachment (lifting) points for the load o The attachment point for multiple leg lifts shall be sized such that each attachment point can support one-half of the loads weight at the anticipated lift angle.

o The attachment point for single leg lifts shall be sized such that the attachment point can support the entire load’s weight.

Limitations on allowable orientations for any parts making up the lifting assembly.

For single leg vertical lifts using twisted rope (wire or synthetic), two parallel ropes each capable of supporting the entire load alone shall be required unless a method is used to prevent unlacing of the rope.

A minimum D/d ratio of one shall be required where wire rope slings pass over any object, or in the eyes of the wire slings. A minimum D/d ratio of two shall be required where synthetic rope slings pass over any object, or in the eyes of the synthetic rope slings.

o “D” represents the diameter of the object the sling passes over o “d” represents the diameter of the sling o Table 14-3 of NAVFAC P-307 lists efficiency factors at various D/d ratios

Components in each handling assembly shall be sized based on the worst case of distribution of loads.

Note: When making a two, three or four-point lift, the handling gear shall be sized so that two legs can support the load without exceeding the safe working load (SWL) at the lift angle expected, unless an equalizing method is used.

When nonstandard gear is required (i.e., round stock lifting bars, spreader bars, etc.) written instructions shall be provided that ensure:

o The proper material is being used o The item is certified IAW NAVFAC P-307 o Any special requirements are followed to ensure that engineering assumptions are met (i.e., eccentricity of the bearing points) A load indicating device (LID) and a pre-determined stopping point will be in the rigging configuration;

applicable to engineering estimated weights and loads are not covered by a technical work document (TWD), unless otherwise approved by NNSY Code-714.
