About this file
These are engineering plan drawings for the Repair/Rebuild of Route 219 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, prepared by the Directorate of Public Works Engineering Division. The drawings detail a 0.60-mile roadway reconstruction project involving removing existing 18-foot wide asphalt pavement, scarifying and compacting subgrade, installing new base course, and applying a new 24-foot wide Type "SP-IV" asphalt surface with a minimum 3-inch thickness. The project includes installing new roadway markings, traffic signs, and maintaining 24-hour vehicular access throughout construction.
The technical specifications require the contractor to saw-cut existing pavement with straight edges, remove and dispose of existing asphalt surface, compact subgrade to 96%, apply a Type II aggregate base course, apply tack coat, and install new asphalt surface with a performance grade PG 64-22. The project involves coordinating with utility companies (NM Gas, communication lines) and includes specific requirements for pavement marking, sign installation, and traffic control, with all work to be performed in compliance with NMSHTD (New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department) standards and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
