About this file

The document provided is a set of questions and answers from a pre-submission meeting for the Dixon Springs Stream Bank Stabilization project, conducted by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The project involves removing existing concrete and a 6-inch tree, and stabilizing the stream bank at Dixon Springs State Park. The vendor asked questions regarding trimming tree limbs for equipment access, reusing existing sandstone in the creek, and the scope of the project in relation to the overall condition of the wall. IDNR responded that they would trim the limbs, the vendor could use existing sandstone but not disturb the natural creek bed, and the project is focused on the 33-foot length where the concrete wall fell over, though other areas may be addressed if they fail during the work.

The document does not provide details on pricing terms, set asides, incumbent contractors, funding sources, or other salient commercial information. The focus is on clarifying the technical requirements and scope of the project based on vendor questions.

ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

PRE-SUBMISSION METTING VENDOR QUESTIONS 1

Date: June 29, 2022

22-422DNR-REALT-B-30330

LOCATION: Dixon Springs State Park

PROJECT TITLE: Stream Bank Stabilization

Vendor Question 1:

To get access with equipment to the area that we have to remove the existing concrete and 6" tree, we will need to trim the limbs of the other couple trees along the bank. Will we be allowed to trim the tree limbs?

IDNR Answer 1:

IDNR Site staff would be trimming the limbs along the creek corridor to allow better access to the area.

Vendor Question 2:

It states to reuse the existing sand stones for the cap, I assume that if needed we can also use any of the other existing sandstone in the creek to get the amount needed to lay up the stone cap?

IDNR Answer 2:

The Vendor may use existing sandstone in the creek that has fell off the wall. However, they cannot disturb the natural sandstone in the creek bed.

Vendor Question 3:

Looks like more of the wall should be replaced, but I assume this project is only doing the approx. 33' length that the existing concrete wall fell over? We will not be responsible for unforeseen conditions or the remaining adjacent wall that is looking sketchy.

IDNR Answer 3:

IDNR understands other portions of the wall are suspectable to failure in the future, but our project is focused on what is outlined in the Scope of Work. If other areas fail during the work activities, it will be evaluated and addressed at that time.
