About this file

This is a Data Item Description (DID) for a Technical Data Package (TDP), document number DI-SESS-80776B, approved August 1, 2019, prepared by the Military Intelligence activity under project SESS-2019-028. The DID supersedes the previous version DI-SESS-80776A and is not applicable to DTIC or GIDEP.

A TDP is defined as the authoritative technical description of an item that is clear, complete, and accurate, and in a form adequate for its intended use. The TDP supports acquisition, production, inspection, engineering, and logistics by defining design, configuration, performance requirements, and procedures necessary for essential interface and effective item performance. The TDP shall include one or more of the following elements as applicable and specified in the contract: conceptual engineering design data; developmental engineering design data and associated lists; product engineering design data and associated lists (including unique processes, performance ratings, dimensional and tolerance data, critical manufacturing processes, assembly sequences, toleranced input/output characteristics, diagrams, mechanical and electrical connections, physical characteristics, material identification, inspection criteria, equipment calibration requirements, quality assurance requirements, hardware marking requirements, certifications, special inspections, environmental and functional testing, vendor substantiation data, software programming requirements, and special consideration items); commercial engineering design data; Special Inspection Equipment (SIE) engineering design data; Special Tooling (ST) engineering design data; specifications; software documentation; Special Packaging Instructions (SPI) engineering design data; and Quality Assurance Provisions (QAPs). The format shall be as specified on the TDP Option Selection Worksheet incorporated into the contract, or contractor format as specified in the contract.
