About this file
This is a recycling calendar mailer for the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works, Bureau of Environmental Services, covering the Northern-Southern service district for 2026. The document serves as an informational guide for residents detailing curbside collection schedules, drop-off locations, and waste management guidelines throughout the calendar year. The mailer includes month-by-month pickup calendars with color-coded indicators for trash, recycling, and yard waste collection days, along with holiday schedule adjustments when holidays fall on or before collection days. Residents are instructed to place items out after 6 PM the night before and no later than 6 AM on pickup day, and must remove bins by 10 PM on collection day. The document specifies four Public Works division drop-off locations (East End, Hazelwood, West End, and Strip District) and identifies accepted materials including plastic, aluminum cans, steel cans, mixed paper, cardboard, glass, yard waste, Christmas trees, tires, and scrap metal, while clearly prohibiting electronics, household hazardous waste, auto parts, chemicals, and construction debris.
The calendar provides comprehensive safety and preparation instructions, including requirements that trash bins and recycling bins not exceed 35 pounds or 35 gallons, bulk items be bundled and tied with a 35-pound maximum, and broken glass be boxed or wrapped. New for 2026, the document emphasizes that all curbside recyclables must be loose, clean, dry, and empty with no bags allowed. The mailer promotes electronics and household hazardous waste disposal programs through weekly drop-offs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, curbside appointments with pre-payment and packaging provision, and community collection events scheduled for March 21st, May 6th, July 18th, September 12th, and November 21st, with pre-registration required through NobleEnviro.com/Pittsburgh or by phone at 412-567-6566. The document includes QR codes for translation services and directs residents to PGH.ST to view personalized pickup schedules online.
