About this file

The document is a detailed Contract Equipment & Supplies specification for janitorial services, applicable to jurisdictions focused on sustainable purchasing practices. The contract outlines comprehensive environmental requirements for various janitorial equipment and supplies, including powered janitorial equipment, cleaning chemicals, surface disinfectants, hand soaps, hand sanitizers, janitorial paper products, and refuse can liners. Vendors are encouraged to use environmentally certified equipment and products that meet specific standards such as Green Seal, Safer Choice, UL ECOLOGO, and California's SB 1383 requirements. The specifications cover detailed criteria for equipment noise levels, chemical compositions, recycled content percentages, and third-party sustainability certifications.

The requirements are designed to promote environmentally responsible purchasing practices, with specific mandates for post-consumer recycled content in paper products, restrictions on chemical compositions, and preferences for sustainable attributes like fragrance-free products, closed-loop dilution systems, and USDA Biobased certification. Vendors must provide documentation of compliance for each product, including links to certification databases like Green Seal, Safer Choice, and UL SPOT. The specification emphasizes reducing toxic chemical exposures, optimizing cleaning fluid use, and supporting sustainable procurement goals, with references to resources like StopWaste's Sustainable Purchasing Guides for various product categories.
