About this file
The document is a Contract Equipment & Supplies specification for janitorial services, focusing on sustainable and environmentally-friendly procurement requirements. The specifications outline detailed guidelines for powered janitorial equipment, cleaning chemicals, surface disinfectants, hand soaps, hand sanitizers, janitorial paper products, and refuse can liners. Vendors are encouraged to use equipment and products with specific environmental certifications such as Green Seal, Safer Choice, UL ECOLOGO, and EPA certifications, with requirements covering sound levels, particulate collection, chemical composition, recycled content, and packaging standards.
The specifications establish stringent environmental compliance measures, including requirements for post-consumer recycled content in paper products (ranging from 10-45% depending on product type), restrictions on chemical compositions, and mandates for third-party certifications. Products must meet California state regulations like SB 1383 for paper purchasing, and manufacturers of trash can liners must incorporate recycled plastic materials. The document provides detailed guidance for vendors on documentation, product selection, and sustainable purchasing practices, with references to resources like StopWaste's Sustainable Purchasing Guides for various product categories.
