About this file

This document is a comprehensive construction specification for a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Renovation project at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. The project involves renovating Room 4A124 and surrounding support spaces to modernize the existing cardiac catheterization facility, with work located on the 4th floor. The renovation will include infrastructure improvements for a replacement cardiac catheterization system, involving modifications to multiple adjacent rooms (4A125, 4A129B, 4A129C, 4A129, 4A129A, 4A128, 4A119, 4A120, 4A119A, and 4A121A).

Key technical specifications include replacing the existing HVAC unit with a new system capable of 100% outside air during purge cycles, maintaining positive air pressure in the cath lab, and ensuring the new facility meets current VA Surgical and Endovascular Services Space Design Standards. The project requires careful phasing to minimize disruptions, with work to be performed during weekdays and potentially off-duty hours. The contractor will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the renovation, including equipment installation, system integration, and compliance with VA regulations and building codes. The specification provides detailed requirements for construction methods, materials, testing, and quality control across multiple technical divisions including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and medical gas systems.
