About this file

This is an attachment providing additional information regarding interactive experience installations for a Court facility.

The Court seeks three distinct interactive installations for its buildings. The first is a morse code communication system to be installed in a long hallway, allowing children to send messages from one end to the other. The system must operate as a closed network with no internet connectivity due to Court security protocols. The second installation is a tactile NASA-themed space experience in the Court's library, featuring samples of different spacesuit and helmet materials spanning various decades. This interactive element includes a screen posing questions about which material would best solve specific challenges, with children selecting buttons, submitting responses, and receiving feedback on correctness. The exhibit emphasizes the evolution of spacesuit design and the importance of innovation, and should fit against a wall or within a window well. The third installation is an early 1900s-style voting booth designed to house a touchscreen interactive experience where children vote on various issues. The booth must maintain a historic aesthetic without appearing technologically modern and should include a tactile element such as a "Vote for Women" button dispenser or "I Voted" sticker dispenser. The document notes that existing wall signage can be relocated to accommodate this booth.

The attachment also provides specifications for two elevators at the Court facilities that will be relevant for delivering and installing these interactive systems: the CAFC Main Building Service Elevator and the CAFC Tayloe Building Elevator, with the Tayloe elevator having a door width of 3 feet, door height of 7 feet, cab width of 5½ feet, cab depth of 3 feet, and cab height of 7½ feet.

Attachment C – Additional Information

1) Morse code interaction. One experience the Court is interested in is to create a type of morse code interaction. It would take place in this long hallway so that kids could send messages from one end of the hallway to the other. It could not be connected to the internet due to Court’s security protocols. Please see images of the space and a Chat mockup of what is envisioned.

Illustration of a mockup (the benches would remain, this provides an idea of the concept)

2)NASA Space: The Court’s library has a lot of space-related displays such as an actual moon rock, spacesuits, etc. The idea is to have a tactile experience in here as well. Below are just some ideas mocked up in Chat. The Court is totally open to ideas and other directions. The pictures show the space, but the plan is for this to fit against the wall or in one of the window wells.

Kids get to touch samples of the different materials used in spacesuits and helmets over the years and learn why those changes were made. So, evolution of a spacesuit type of thing. There would be a screen to the right asking a question as to which material would be the best to solve the issue. Kids would select a button, hit submit, and then learn if they were right. This one is the most relevant to what is on display and the importance of innovation.

3)Voting Booth Idea

The Court has a touch interactive experience that has users choose issues they would like to vote on. The idea is to create an early 1900’s looking voting booth that would hold the screen where kids could vote on different issues. This space is historic, so it should not look techy. The plan is to have some sort of tactile like a” Vote for Women” button dispenser or an “I Voted” sticker dispenser. Please see below the actual space and a Chat mockup of what is envisioned. The quote and women on the wall can be moved to make space for the booth.
