About this file
This federal solicitation is for trail rehabilitation work at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge in California. The project consists of rehabilitating approximately one mile of the existing Rock Hill Trail to provide ADA compliance, including selective clearing of salt cedars along portions of the trail and constructing a new overlook at the base of Rock Hill. Additional work includes trail and parking lot rehabilitation at two other sites, parking lot improvements with new sidewalk and ADA parking, clearing and grubbing, signage, and benches. Estimated quantities of work items include 2,200 tons of roadway aggregate, 8,000 square yards of roadway reconditioning, 2.5 acres of selective clearing and grubbing, 500 cubic yards of embankment construction, and 8,100 square yards of geotextile. One accessibility ramp is also included. The estimated price range for the contract is between $700,000 to $2,000,000. Work will require coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and may involve trail closures during construction season from November to March to avoid peak visitation periods. The soliciting agency is the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.
