About this file

This document contains site visit documentation for a federal contract opportunity to rehabilitate portions of the Rock Hill Trail located in the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge in California. The project consists of making approximately one mile of the existing natural surface trail ADA accessible, selectively clearing salt cedars along parts of the trail, and constructing a new overlook at the base of Rock Hill. Additional work includes trail and parking lot signage, benches, and parking lot improvements such as new sidewalk and ADA parking at two additional sites. Principal work items include 2,200 tons of roadway aggregate, 8,000 square yards of roadway reconditioning, selective clearing and grubbing of 2.5 acres, 500 cubic yards of embankment construction, and 8,100 square yards of separation-stabilization geotextile. An accessibility ramp and interactions with the US Fish and Wildlife Service will also be required. The estimated price range for the contract is between $700,000 and $2,000,000. Construction can occur between November and March to avoid peak visitation season.
