PERFORMANCE STATEMENT OF WORK
PREPARED BY
USDA/ARS/Madison Location
FOR
HAZARDOUS AND NON-HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL SERVICES
SECTION 1 – GENERAL INFORMATION & DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
1.0 BACKGROUND
The USDA ARS Madison Location is comprised of Five Research Units (Cell Wall Biology and Utilization, Cereal Crops, Dairy Forage, Environmentally Integrated Dairy Management, and Vegetable Crops) that each perform a myriad of agricultural research activities. The performance of these activities results in the generation of diversified chemical and biological wastes of varying quantities and toxicities. Wastes may contain - pyrophoric, explosive, reactive, or toxic substances and compressed gases. Some of the chemicals are dangerous due to their sensitivity to shock, friction, or pressure; others are reactive or unstable for a variety of reasons. In pursuance of this research, the facilities have accumulated commercial grade chemicals and containerized lab waste requiring lab packing.
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) recognizes its responsibility to ensure facilities are following existing regulations imposed upon entities that generate, transport, store, treat, and dispose of hazardous chemical wastes. The Agency has a need for hazardous waste disposal services.
The Madison Location Research Units are located in Madison, WI, on/near the UW Madison Campus, with one Research Unit in Marshfield, WI:
1. Dairy Forage Research Center (houses Cell Wall and Dairy Forage Research Units) -
1925 Linden Dr. Madison, WI 53706
