About this file
This document consists of construction and electrical design specifications and site plans for a new awning structure installation at a USDA ARS Pecan Breeding/Genetics facility. The project encompasses a 125-foot by 36-foot awning to be constructed on the south side of an existing 40-foot by 100-foot building, with an additional 36-foot depth extension area for the new awning footprint.
The concrete foundation requirements include round piers extending 48 inches below grade with bell bottoms and #4 reinforcing bar, utilizing 3,000-pound concrete with top pads extending minimum 2 inches below grade. Vertical support columns are spaced every 4 inches apart, and base anchors must meet metal building structure requirements with rebar extending into top pads and fully encased after pouring. The site plan indicates five existing column supports within the building footprint, receptacle and lighting locations, and a 100-ampere electrical panel. The electrical layout specifications show required loads (LP#10, LP#2, LP#1, LP#3) distributed across the awning structure, with provisions for new lighting circuits, existing light removal, and transformer connections. Site preparation includes extending concrete and caliche 4 feet past the new awning with a 4-inch slab base 12 inches wide perimeter, installation of a sliding gate on the north side, and replacement or stretching of existing perimeter fencing as necessary. No response dates, award information, or pricing terms are specified in these technical specifications.
