About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) record for RFI 1232SA26Q0981 addressing contractor inquiries regarding a construction project involving canopy/awning installation and associated site work.

The project requires installation of an approximately 100-foot-long awning structure that will slide beneath existing building panels without requiring framing modifications or structural reinforcement. Contractors are responsible for independent measurements of existing conditions including building elevations, fence locations, and electrical infrastructure, as site visits are permitted. The work includes replacement or repair of approximately 50 linear feet of fencing on each side, installation of caliche along the entire building length (~125 feet) extending 4 feet past the awning structure, and a concrete slab limited to one bay (~25 feet wide) extending 4 feet past the awning. A manual sliding gate with no access controls or low-voltage requirements must be provided. The structure must meet Burleson County wind rating requirements and no permit is required. Working hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Contractors bear responsibility for utility locate notifications (120-volt circuit expected from building to service pole), obtaining own measurements for fencing and gate dimensions, and determining acceptance criteria for reused fencing based on tight appearance. Third-party testing of concrete and welding inspections are not required. Electrical connections for new lighting will tie into the building's interior electrical panel. No underground piping, trenching, splash blocks, or tank connections are required, and no seasonal restrictions or access limitations apply to construction activities.

1232SA26Q0981 RFI Questions and Answers

Can the Government provide clarification on how the new canopy roof will tie into the existing roof?

We understand the canopy will be a standalone structure, but the roof will connect to the existing building. Please provide the intended attachment detail and identify whether weatherproof flashing, framing modifications, or structural reinforcement of the existing building are required.

New awning roof will simple slide beneath existing panel on the building structure. No framing modifications are required nor additional structural reinforcement of the existing building

The SOW references a typical awning size of approximately 32 x 100, while the drawing package appears to depict an awning approximately 100 x 36. Please confirm the governing dimensions for bidding purposes.

SOW states typical awning structure was only an example.

Awning will be approximately 100 ft long

Are utility locates available showing underground electrical, water, communication, irrigation, or drainage systems in the proposed footing excavation areas?

no locate are available. Only expected utility is 120v circuit that runs from the back of the building to the utility service pole. Contractor is responsible for dig test notification.

Please confirm the exact fencing limits to be replaced, re-stretched, or repaired and provide estimated linear footage.

fencing estimate would be approximately 50' on each side but contractor responsible for taken own measurements

Please provide required dimensions, locking requirements, and confirm whether the sliding gate is manual or motorized.

Manual gate, responsible for taking own measurements

Please confirm the exact limits and dimensions of concrete and caliche placement shown in the drawings.

Caliche the entire length of the building (~125') and extend 4' past awning structure. Concrete slab to be limited to one bay (~25 wide) and extend 4' past the awning structure.

Is any underground piping, trenching, splash blocks, or future tank connection required under this contract?

No

The drawings indicate portions of the existing fence may be reused. Please define acceptance criteria. Provided fencing can be stretched tight and provides a neat appearance, it can be re-used

Are there restrictions on delivery hours, crane operations, weekend work, staging areas, laydown yards, or temporary material storage?

normal working hours 8-4:30 M-f except Federal Holidays. You may store material on site but Government is not responsible for security.

Are there seasonal research activities, restricted access periods, or operational constraints that could impact construction?

No

Will the site visit permit field measurements of the existing building, roof elevations, fence locations, and electrical infrastructure?

Yes

What wind rating is the structure required to meet? Since this has to be engineered, we will need this info.

Structure to be requirements of Burleson County

Per the solicitation, we are required to get a permit for this. What AHJ is this to be submitted to? no Permit is required

Beyond the QC manager, are we required to obtain third party testing of the concrete, welding inspections, etc?

Third party testing not required

Can the Government verify where the electrical for the new lights will tie into? Indicated in the SOW; electrical panel inside the building

Please confirm low voltage or access controls are not needed at new gate. No controls-manual gate only
