About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for cleaning services at two Forest Service recreation areas. The document specifies contract requirements for Crabtree Falls and Sherando Lake Recreation Area beach bathhouse.

Crabtree Falls Cleaning Contract: The contractor must provide cleaning services three times weekly (Monday, Thursday, Saturday) from April 1 through November 30, and twice weekly (Friday, Monday) from December 1 through March 31. Each service visit requires 1-1.5 hours and includes cleaning and sanitizing two concrete vault toilet buildings (men's and women's), cleaning floors, walls, hand railings and door handles, emptying and replacing liners in eight trash containers, and picking up litter throughout the parking lot and picnic area. During freezing temperatures, only toilet seats and risers are sanitized; all other times include full floor and wall cleaning. The contractor must provide their own water supply, while the Forest Service supplies all cleaning products, paper products, brushes, squeegees, and trash pickers. Trash must be deposited within two miles offsite at Nelson County trash collection site. No running water, sewer, or electricity exists onsite, and all supplies must be stored offsite.

Sherando Lake Beach Bathhouse Cleaning Contract: The contractor must perform four cleanings weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) from May 16 through September 14, three cleanings weekly (Monday, Thursday, Saturday) from April 1 through May 15 and September 15 through October 31, and one deep clean during the last week of March. Each regular visit requires approximately 2 hours and includes sweeping and mopping approximately 1,450 square feet of restroom floors, sanitizing all fixtures (men's: 3 urinals, 3 toilets, 3 sinks, 3 showers; women's: 6 toilets, 2 sinks, 3 showers, 4 dressing rooms), cleaning floors, walls, railings and door handles, emptying trash, and spot dusting. The annual deep clean includes removing accumulated cobwebs and refreshing skylights, walls, and windows. The Forest Service provides all materials and supplies, and trash is deposited onsite at the Forest Service dumpster. This facility has running water, septic system, and electricity, with supplies stored onsite in plumbing alleys. Service visits must be completed by 9 a.m. to avoid public interference. A potential six-month service suspension is noted due to planned water and sewer line renovations with dates to be determined.
