Contractor Questions (continued)

Q3: Can you provide the size of the survey book?

A3: 8. 75" x 6. 75" x 0.5"

Q4: Do you have a required number of filing inches?

A4: Total number of filing inches for current books would be 12,000 inches.

Q5: Are they all the s~rvey books the same size?

AS: There is ~ome variety of size but the vast majority are 8.75" x 6.75" x 0.5"

Q6: Do you have a drawing of the room?

A6: See Appendix B.

Q7: Do you have a number of shelving sections required?

A7: Sufficient shelving at the minimum for all books, which is approximately 24,000.

Q8: Do you have a layout for the shelving?

AS: We do have a theoretical layout based on specifications given. This does not have to be a final layout if an alternative can be suggested.

Q9: Item d states that the shelves need to be individually adjustable on-back-to-back units, this sounds more _like a 4-post specification. Do you need these double face units to have the ability to independently adjust the clear opening height on the double face units?

A9: It is a desire to have the shelves be independently adjusted, however if the capacity is addressed to hold all the necessary books that is not a hard and fast re_quirement.

Q 10: Item e references 84" H- 7 rows per face is that the total height with the base. Do you have a clear shelf opening (the clear distance required between the shelves)?

AlO: Book height is 8.75", so enough clearance to access the books, so approximately 10".

Contractor Questions (continued)

Q 11: Item J states that the shelving anchors easily to mobile carriages with no loss of stability or additional hardware. Is this shelving static or moveable? If it is movable this sound more like a 4-post shelving specification not a cantilever specification, Cantilever typically works better in a static configuration rather than on a mobile system as it is not as stable as 4 posts.

All: The shelves will be static.

Q 12: Item k talks about rigid uprights and shelf reinforcements this sounds like a four-post specification.

A12: Cantilever system is preferred but specifications were included to allow for a four post system in order to not limit options.

Q 13: Do you require any shelf dividers or book stops for the shelving. If so, how many per shelf?

A13: One removable and or one movable book stop per shelf.

Q14: Will there be a site visit scheduled?

A14: See response to Question 2.

Q15: What size are the survey books W x H x Thickness?

A15: See response to Question 3.

Q16: What are the room dimensions (any columns)?

A16: There are no columns, see Appendix E and F Appendix F for room dimensions.

QI 7: What is the space that is allocated for the library system?

A17: See Appendix E and F Appendix F.
