About this file
This specification document issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) on August 31, 2023, outlines requirements for bidirectional linear delineation systems designed for both guardrail channel mount and concrete barrier side mount applications. The specification calls for retro-reflectorized reflective sheeting reflector systems in white/red or yellow/red configurations to enhance linear delineation on roadways. All materials must comply with ASTM D4956 standards and be provided as 12.5-foot long units mounted as continuous systems with reflectors and sheeting applied to both faces for bidirectional viewing. The reflective sheeting must be mounted on successive half-cylindrical shapes at maximum 7-inch spacing. Hardware must be mechanically fastened using either channel mount or side mount configurations, with adhesive permanently prohibited. Delivery to the MDOT office in Grand Rapids, Michigan is required within 8 weeks of the bid date.
Suppliers must provide a minimum 5-year limited warranty on all products. All materials and hardware must meet the requirements of section 919 of MDOT's 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction, the Michigan Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD), and manufacturer specifications. The specification references MDOT's Standard Specifications for Construction and Transportation Standards and Special Details documentation for additional technical requirements and standards compliance.
