About this file
Addendum #1 to Bid #2958 is a clarification document issued by the Town of Hamden, Connecticut Purchasing Department on May 21, 2026, addressing the grinding of brush, stumps, logs, and debris in Hamden. The addendum clarifies bid security requirements for this unit-priced solicitation, where total quantities are not predetermined. Written questions must be submitted by May 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM to purchasing@hamden.com, with sealed bids due on June 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Hamden Government Center, 2750 Dixwell Avenue. Site inspections of the Transfer Station at 231 Wintergreen Avenue in New Haven are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (excluding 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM) by contacting Joe Colello.
The Town of Hamden has established that a $500 bid bond is the appropriate bid security amount for this unit-price contract where total quantity is uncertain, replacing the standard five percent of total bid amount requirement that would typically apply to lump-sum bids. The contractor must provide grinding services (single and double grind), screening to 1/2 inch or finer, hauling, and off-site disposal on a per-cubic-yard basis, with an optional add-alternate for firewood processing services priced per cord with a 50-cord minimum. Bidders must comply with Connecticut prevailing wage requirements, maintain insurance coverage including $1,000,000 commercial general liability per occurrence, and if applicable, meet Public Act 15-5 set-asides requiring 25 percent of contract value reserved for small contractors and 6.25 percent for minority business enterprises on contracts exceeding $50,000.
