About this file
This file is a bar coding attachment that specifies the U.S. Coast Guard's packaging and marking requirements for deliverables under the Sentinel Class MTU 20V4000M93L QL4 Engine Overhauls contract. The attachment mandates that all items be bar coded in accordance with MIL-STD-129R, specifically requiring both linear (Code 39) and 2D (PDF417) bar code markings and locations as detailed in paragraph 5.4.1.2.1 on page 51 of the referenced standard. The bar code label must include the National Stock Number (NSN), item name, part number, contract number, shipping weight, quantity and unit of issue, condition, and any other data as directed by the U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC). The bar code label may be applied separately or as part of the overall marking, and a sample is provided showing the required format for identification of components such as the Rudder Part Number 87 WPB 561-001 PORT with NSN 2040-01-461-1944.
