About this file

This memorandum is a source approval letter from the Department of the Air Force Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, addressed to Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Service, LLC, doing business as Engineered Arresting Systems (ESCO), dated February 5, 2026. The letter approves the BAK-14 High Speed Rollover (HSRO) Support Box Assembly following analysis of a Source Approval Request (SAR) Information Package submitted by ESCO on February 13, 2025. The approval was granted after comprehensive testing and evaluation, including prototype and operational testing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada; operational testing at Royal Australian Air Force Base Williamtown and Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley; MIL-STD-810G testing; and final review by the AFLCMC/ROZ Configuration Control Board (CCB).

The approval of the BAK-14 HSRO Support Box Assembly represents a significant technical certification for ESCO's improved arresting system design. No pricing information, contract terms, delivery schedules, or renewal options are specified in this source approval letter, as it serves solely as a technical certification document authorizing the vendor's system for operational use. The letter provides contact information for Mr. Rhett Harley at AFLCMC/ROZE for any questions regarding the approval. This approval aligns with a related Idaho sole source procurement authorization for BAK-12 and BAK-14H Aircraft Arresting Systems from Curtiss-Wright Arresting Systems, indicating the vendor's established position as a qualified supplier for arresting system equipment across military and state procurement channels.
