When the Specifications and Drawings contain references to brand name products and specified manufacturers, the FAA will accept, with approval, an “or equal” substitution. So long as the proposed substitution meets the performance characteristics required for the specified application.
Addendum to Specification section 55220 2.1B B. Substitutions: The metal guardrail and rooftop fall protection has been designed for this specific application and site conditions utilizing the product specified above. The Contractor has the option to submit an alternate product manufacturer as long as it complies with the requirements stated in this specification. In addition, the Contractor must perform an investigation of existing site conditions and submit, for review and approval, a site specific design stamped and signed by a qualified licensed structural engineer.

1.2 PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Project Identification: Barksdale Air Force Base RAPCON Building (BAD) Re-Roof
& exterior modernization
1. Project Location: RAPCON building @ Barksdale AFB (BAD) Shreveport, LA
1.3 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
A. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following, but not limited to:
RAPCON BUILDING (Contractor tasks)
1. ALL FAA specified and Contractor supplied materials must require an approval by the
FAA through the submittal process prior to purchase and installation of such materials.
2. Contractor must use GE Sil Proof 2000 sealant, or an equivalent that meets the specifications in the sealants section (All sealants and all materials listed as brand names are acceptable or an equivalent if the substitute meets the specifications listed in the products specification section). This product will be used to reseal where existing sealant has deteriorated, or sealant was removed (Exterior only).
3. Contractor must Furnish and Install (F & I) new GE interior paintable sealant where hollow metal door frames have been replaced with new doors, and frames.
4. Contractor must Repair & Replace (Typ. R & R) Radar Approach Control facility (RAPCON): roofing and coping etc. system (Tear off to the deck),
5. F & I new roof top perimeter guard railing system. Railing must meet FAA (drawings and specification sections) and OSHA requirements.
6. F & I fabricated roof top access “ship ladder” per drawing location.
7. Remove (5-6) exterior hollow metal doors and frames.

8. F & I new exterior commercial hollow metal doors and full welded frames.
9. F & I DTM (direct to Metal) primer and paint for new and existing exterior doors.
10. Paint Colors must be chosen at a later date by the occupants ( FAA Personnel that daily maintains and owns the structure) of the facility.
11. Contractor must remove all construction debris from the site, as to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
12. PROVIDE AND INSTALL A NEW ROOF LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR
THE RAPCON BLGD LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM TO MEET OR EXCEED
THE REQUIREMENTS OF FAA STANDARD, FAA-STD-019F (THROUGHOUT
THE SPECIFICATIONS, TYP), ORDERS, PROJECT DRAWINGS, AND THE
FOLLOWING:
13. STANDARDS FOR INSTALLATION OF LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEMS
(NFPA 780)
14. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS FOR LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEMS
(UL 96A)
15. PROVIDE CLASS II OR LARGER RATED MATERIALS, AS SPECIFIED IN NFPA
780 FOR AIR TERMINALS, MAIN AND DOWN CONDUCTORS AND BONDING
CONDUCTORS.
16. NUMBER OF DOWN CONDUCTORS MUST BE BASED ON FAA-STD-019F. MAKE
SURE DOWN CONDUCTORS FOLLOW THE MOST DIRECT PATH TO EARTH
AND MAIN AND BONDING CONDUCTORS MAINTAIN A HORIZONTAL OR
DOWNWARD PATH.
17. AIR TERMINALS MUST BE SOLID COPPER, BRONZE OR ALUMINUM, 12-IN
HIGH MINIMUM, WITH 1/2 –IN DIAMETER FOR COPPER AND 5/8-IN DIAMETER
FOR ALUMINUM AND INSTALLED AS PER NFPA 780 AND UL 96A.
18. ALL PRODUCTS MUST BE UL LISTED AND LABELED WITH THE UL
CERTIFICATION MARK IN ACCORDANCE WITH UL REQUIREMENTS.
19. PLEASE NOTE THAT INCLUSION OF A UL MASTER LABEL ALONE MUST NOT
BE SUFFICIENT TO INDICATE COMMPLIANCE WITH FAA-STD-019F.
1.4 ACCESS TO SITE
A. Use of Site: Limit use of Project site to work in areas determined at pre-construction meeting.
1. Replace/repair any disturbed areas to a condition equal to or better then conditions prior to disturbance (i.e. landscaping, paving, etc.)
2. Driveways, Walkways and Entrances: Keep driveways and entrances serving premises clear and available to Owner, Owner's employees, and emergency vehicles at all times.
Coordinate parking and storage of construction materials with on-site residential engineer (R.E.) and the facility representative.
a. Schedule deliveries to minimize use of driveways and entrances by construction operations.
b. Schedule deliveries to minimize space and time requirements for storage of materials and equipment on-site.
B. Condition of Existing Building: Maintain portions of existing building affected by construction operations in a weather tight condition throughout construction period. Repair damage caused by construction operations at no cost to the FAA or airport.

1.5 COORDINATION WITH OCCUPANTS
A. Full Owner Occupancy: Owner will occupy site during entire construction period. Cooperate with Owner during construction operations to minimize conflicts and facilitate Owner usage.
Perform the Work so as not to interfere with Owner's day-to-day operations. Maintain existing exits unless otherwise indicated.
1. Maintain access to existing walkways, corridors, and other adjacent occupied or used facilities. Do not close or obstruct walkways, corridors, or other occupied or used facilities without written permission from Owner and approval of authorities having jurisdiction.
2. Notify Owner not less than 48 hours in advance of activities that will affect Owner's operations.
3. A weekly meeting must be held with the occupants to discuss the upcoming weekly work efforts. The occupants must be aware of upcoming events which may affect the working environment.
1.6 WORK RESTRICTIONS
A. Work Restrictions, General: Comply with restrictions on construction operations.
1. Comply with limitations on use of public streets and with other requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.
B. On-Site Work Hours: It is anticipated that work under this contract will be performed during normal working hours. The working days and hours must be determined at the construction precon and possibly before.
C. Existing Utility Interruptions: Do not interrupt utilities serving facilities occupied by Owner or others unless permitted under the following conditions and then only after providing temporary utility services according to requirements indicated:
1. Notify R.E. not less than 2 days in advance of proposed utility interruptions.
D. Noise, Vibration, and Odors: Coordinate operations that may result in high levels of noise and vibration, odors, or other disruption to Owner (FAA) occupancy with Owner.
1. Notify (FAA Resident Engineer) R.E. not less than 2 days in advance of proposed disruptive operations.
E. Nonsmoking Building: Smoking is not permitted within the building or within 25’ of entrances, operable windows, or outdoor-air intakes.
F. General Requirements: Requirements of The Contract apply to the Work of all Sections in the Specifications.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 Submittals. Each product required for use in the contract drawings and specifications must meet the actual minimum needs of the Government as demonstrated in the salient (prominent, important) characteristics for that product. If a brand name product is used in the drawings or specifications, it should be regarded as a "known acceptable source"(i.e., a product that meets the actual minimum needs, and demonstrates the appropriate salient characteristics).
The product used can be identical or equal to the brand name product or known acceptable source in meeting the salient characteristics, but it need not exceed the actual minimum requirements. Any brand name product or known acceptable source mentioned will, however, not be required for use in order to comply with the specifications or drawing unless those documents make it clear that the brand name product is required, and substitution is prohibited.

SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES
SECTION 01 2500
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and other Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for substitutions.
B. Related Sections:
1. Division 01 Section "Allowances" for products selected under an allowance.
2. Division 01 Section "Product Requirements" for requirements for submitting comparable product submittals for products by listed manufacturers.
3. Divisions 02 through 49 Sections for specific requirements and limitations for substitutions.
1.3 DEFINITIONS
A. Substitutions: Changes in products, materials, equipment, and methods of construction from those required by the Contract Documents and proposed by Contractor.
1. Substitutions for Cause: Changes proposed by Contractor that are required due to changed Project conditions, such as unavailability of product, regulatory changes, or unavailability of required warranty terms.
2. Substitutions for Convenience: Changes proposed by Contractor or Owner that are not required in order to meet other Project requirements but may offer advantage to Contractor or Owner.
1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Substitution Requests: Submit three copies of each request for consideration. Identify product or fabrication or installation method to be replaced. Include Specification Section number and title and Drawing numbers and titles.
1. Substitution Request Form: Use facsimile of form provided in the Project
Manual.
2. Documentation: Show compliance with requirements for substitutions and the following, as applicable:
a. Statement indicating why specified product or fabrication, or installation cannot be provided, if applicable.
b. Coordination information, including a list of changes or modifications needed to other parts of the Work and to construction performed by Owner and separate contractors that will be necessary to accommodate proposed substitution.

c. Detailed comparison of significant qualities of proposed substitution with those of the Work specified. Include annotated copy of applicable specification section. Significant qualities may include attributes such as performance, weight, size, durability, visual effect, sustainable design characteristics, warranties, and specific features and requirements indicated. Indicate deviations, if any, from the Work specified.
d. Product Data, including drawings and descriptions of products and fabrication and installation procedures.
e. Samples, where applicable or requested.
f. Certificates and qualification data, where applicable or requested.
g. List of similar installations for completed projects with project names and addresses and names and addresses of architects and owners.
h. Material test reports from a qualified testing agency indicating and interpreting test results for compliance with requirements indicated.
i. Research reports evidencing compliance with building code in effect for
Project, from ICC-ES.
j. Detailed comparison of Contractor's construction schedule using proposed substitution with products specified for the Work, including effect on the overall Contract Time. If specified product or method of construction cannot be provided within the Contract Time, include letter from manufacturer, on manufacturer's letterhead, stating date of receipt of purchase order, lack of availability, or delays in delivery.
k. Cost information, including a proposal of change, if any, in the Contract Sum.
l. Contractor's certification that proposed substitution complies with requirements in the Contract Documents except as indicated in substitution request, is compatible with related materials, and is appropriate for applications indicated.
m. Contractor's waiver of rights to additional payment or time that may subsequently become necessary because of failure of proposed substitution to produce indicated results.
3. Architect's Action: If necessary, Architect will request additional information or documentation for evaluation within seven days of receipt of a request for substitution. Architect will notify Contractor of acceptance or rejection of proposed substitution within 15 days of receipt of request, or seven days of receipt of additional information or documentation, whichever is later.
a. Forms of Acceptance: Change Order, Construction Change Directive, or
Architect's Supplemental Instructions for minor changes in the Work.
b. Use product specified if Architect does not issue a decision on use of a proposed substitution within time allocated.
1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Compatibility of Substitutions: Investigate and document compatibility of proposed substitution with related products and materials. Engage qualified testing agency to perform compatibility tests recommended by manufacturers.
1.6 PROCEDURES
A. Coordination: Modify or adjust affected work as necessary to integrate work of the approved substitutions.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 SUBSTITUTIONS

1. Conditions: Architect will consider Contractor's request for substitution when the following conditions are satisfied. If the following conditions are not satisfied, Architect will return requests without action, except to record noncompliance with these requirements:
a. Requested substitution is consistent with the Contract Documents and will produce indicated results.
b. Substitution request is fully documented and properly submitted.
c. Requested substitution will not adversely affect Contractor's construction schedule.
d. Requested substitution has received necessary approvals of authorities having jurisdiction.
e. Requested substitution is compatible with other portions of the Work.
f. Requested substitution has been coordinated with other portions of the
Work.
g. Requested substitution provides specified warranty.
h. If requested substitution involves more than one contractor, requested substitution has been coordinated with other portions of the Work, is uniform and consistent, is compatible with other products, and is acceptable to all contractors involved.
B. Substitutions for Convenience: Architect will consider requests for substitution if received within 15 days after the Notice of Award. Requests received after that time may be considered or rejected at discretion of Architect.
1. Conditions: Architect will consider Contractor's request for substitution when the following conditions are satisfied. If the following conditions are not satisfied, Architect will return requests without action, except to record noncompliance with these requirements:
a. Requested substitution offers Owner a substantial advantage in cost, time, energy conservation, or other considerations, after deducting additional responsibilities Owner must assume. Owner's additional responsibilities may include compensation to Architect for redesign and evaluation services, increased cost of other construction by Owner, and similar considerations.
b. Requested substitution does not require extensive revisions to the Contract Documents.
c. Requested substitution is consistent with the Contract Documents and will produce indicated results.
d. Substitution request is fully documented and properly submitted.
e. Requested substitution will not adversely affect Contractor's construction schedule.
f. Requested substitution has received necessary approvals of authorities having jurisdiction.
g. Requested substitution is compatible with other portions of the Work.
h. Requested substitution has been coordinated with other portions of the
Work.
i. Requested substitution provides specified warranty.

1.3 DEFINITIONS
A. Products: Items purchased for incorporating into the Work, whether purchased for Project or taken from previously purchased stock. The term "product" includes the terms "material," "equipment," "system," and terms of similar intent.
1. Named Products: Items identified by manufacturer's product name, including make or model number or other designation shown or listed in manufacturer's published product literature that is current as of date of the Contract Documents.
2. New Products: Items that have not previously been incorporated into another project or facility, except that products consisting of recycled-content materials are allowed, unless explicitly stated otherwise. Products salvaged or recycled from other projects are not considered new products.
3. Comparable Product: Product that is demonstrated and approved through submittal process, or where indicated as a product substitution, to have the indicated qualities related to type, function, dimension, in-service performance, physical properties, appearance, and other characteristics that equal or exceed those of specified product.
B. Substitutions: Changes in products, materials, equipment, and methods of construction from those required by the Contract Documents and proposed by Contractor.

1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Product List: Submit a list in tabular form, showing Contractor’s selections from specified products. Include generic names of products required. Include manufacturer's name and proprietary product names for each product.
1. Coordinate product list with Contractor's Construction Schedule and the
Submittals Schedule.
2. Form: Tabulate information for each product under the following column headings:
a. Specification Section number and title.
b. Generic name used in the Contract Documents.
c. Proprietary name, model number, and similar designations.
d. Manufacturer's name and address.
e. Supplier's name and address.
f. Installer's name and address.
g. Projected delivery date or time span of delivery period.
h. Identification of items that require early submittal approval for scheduled delivery date.
3. Completed List: Within 10 days after date of Notice to Proceed, submit 3 copies of completed product list. Include a written explanation for omissions of data and for variations from Contract requirements.
4. Architect's Action: Architect will respond in writing to Contractor within 5 days of receipt of completed product list. Architect's response will include a list of unacceptable product selections and a brief explanation of reasons for this action. Architect's response, or lack of response, does not constitute a waiver of requirement to comply with the Contract Documents.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Compatibility of Options: If Contractor is given option of selecting between two or more products for use on Project, product selected shall be compatible with products previously selected, even if previously selected products were also options.
1. Each contractor is responsible for providing products and construction methods compatible with products and construction methods of other contractors.

2. If a dispute arises between contractors over concurrently selectable but incompatible products, Architect will determine which products shall be used.
1.6 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store, and handle products using means and methods that will prevent damage, deterioration, and loss, including theft. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions.
B. Delivery and Handling:
1. Schedule delivery to minimize long-term storage at Project site and to prevent overcrowding of construction spaces.
2. Coordinate delivery with installation time to ensure minimum holding time for items that are flammable, hazardous, easily damaged, or sensitive to deterioration, theft, and other losses.
3. Deliver products to Project site in an undamaged condition in manufacturer's original sealed container or other packaging system, complete with labels and instructions for handling, storing, unpacking, protecting, and installing.
4. Inspect products on delivery to ensure compliance with the Contract Documents and to ensure that products are undamaged and properly protected.
C. Storage:
1. Store products to allow for inspection and measurement of quantity or counting of units.
2. Store materials in a manner that will not endanger Project structure.
3. Store products that are subject to damage by the elements, under cover in a weathertight enclosure above ground, with ventilation adequate to prevent condensation.
4. Store cementitious products and materials on elevated platforms.
5. Store foam plastic from exposure to sunlight, except to extent necessary for period of installation and concealment.
6. Comply with product manufacturer's written instructions for temperature, humidity, ventilation, and weather-protection requirements for storage.
7. Protect stored products from damage and liquids from freezing.
8. For exterior storage of fabricated Products, place on sloped supports, above ground.
9. Periodically inspect to assure Products are undamaged and are maintained under specified conditions.
10. Provide bonded off-site storage and protection when site does not permit on-site storage or protection.
1.7 PRODUCT WARRANTIES
A. Warranties specified in other Sections shall be in addition to, and run concurrent with, other warranties required by the Contract Documents. Manufacturer's disclaimers and limitations on product warranties do not relieve Contractor of obligations under requirements of the Contract Documents.
1. Manufacturer's Warranty: Preprinted written warranty published by individual manufacturer for a particular product and specifically endorsed by manufacturer to Owner.
2. Special Warranty: Written warranty required by or incorporated into the Contract Documents, either to extend time limit provided by manufacturer's warranty or to provide more rights for Owner.

B. Special Warranties: Prepare a written document that contains appropriate terms and identification, ready for execution. Submit a draft for approval before final execution.
1. Manufacturer's Standard Form: Modified to include Project-specific information and properly executed.

3. Refer to Divisions 02 through 49 Sections for specific content requirements and particular requirements for submitting special warranties.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 PRODUCT SELECTION PROCEDURES
A. General Product Requirements: Provide products that comply with the Contract Documents, that are undamaged and, unless otherwise indicated, that are new at time of installation.
1. Provide products complete with accessories, trim, finish, fasteners, and other items needed for a complete installation and indicated use and effect.
2. Standard Products: If available, and unless custom products or nonstandard options are specified, provide standard products of types that have been produced and used successfully in similar situations on other projects.
3. Owner reserves the right to limit selection to products with warranties not in conflict with requirements of the Contract Documents.
4. Where products are accompanied by the term "as selected," Architect will make selection.
5. Where products are accompanied by the term "match sample," sample to be matched is Architect's.
6. Descriptive, performance, and reference standard requirements in the Specifications establish "salient characteristics" of products.
B. Product Selection Procedures:
1. Product: Where Specifications name a single product and manufacturer, provide the named product that complies with requirements.
2. Manufacturer/Source: Where Specifications name a single manufacturer or source, provide a product by the named manufacturer or source that complies with requirements.
3. Available Products: Where Specifications include a list of names of both products and manufacturers, provide one of the products listed, or an unnamed product, that complies with requirements. Comply with provisions in Part 2 "Comparable Products" Article for consideration of an unnamed product.
4. Available Manufacturers: Where Specifications include a list of manufacturers, provide a product by one of the manufacturers listed, or an unnamed manufacturer, that complies with requirements. Comply with provisions in Part 2 "Comparable Products" Article for consideration of an unnamed product.
5. Basis-of-Design Product: Where Specifications name a product and include a list of manufacturers, provide the specified product or a comparable product by one of the other named manufacturers. a. Standard Range: Where Specifications include the phrase "standard range of colors, patterns, textures" or similar phrase, Architect will select color, pattern, density, or texture from manufacturer's product line that does not include premium items.
b. Full Range: Where Specifications include the phrase "full range of colors, patterns, textures" or similar phrase, Architect will select color, pattern, density, or texture from manufacturer's product line that includes both standard and premium items.
2.2 PRODUCT SUBSTITUTIONS
A. Timing: Architect will consider requests for substitution if received within 10 days after the Notice of Award. Requests received after that time may be considered or rejected at discretion of Architect.
B. Conditions: Architect will consider Contractor's request for substitution when the following conditions are satisfied. If the following conditions are not satisfied, Architect will return requests without action, except to record noncompliance with these requirements:
1. Requested substitution offers Owner a substantial advantage in cost, time, energy conservation, or other considerations, after deducting additional responsibilities Owner must assume. Owner's additional responsibilities may include compensation to Architect for redesign and evaluation services, increased cost of other construction by Owner, and similar considerations.
2. Requested substitution does not require extensive revisions to the Contract Documents.
3. Requested substitution is consistent with the Contract Documents and will produce indicated results.
4. Substitution request is fully documented and properly submitted.
5. Requested substitution will not adversely affect Contractor's Construction
Schedule.
6. Requested substitution has received necessary approvals of authorities having jurisdiction.
7. Requested substitution is compatible with other portions of the Work.
8. Requested substitution has been coordinated with other portions of the Work.
9. Requested substitution provides specified warranty.
10. If requested substitution involves more than one contractor, requested substitution has been coordinated with other portions of the Work, is uniform and consistent, is compatible with other products, and is acceptable to all contractors involved.
2.3 COMPARABLE PRODUCTS
A. Conditions: Architect will consider Contractor's request for comparable product when the following conditions are satisfied. If the following conditions are not satisfied, Architect will return requests without action, except to record noncompliance with these requirements:

3. Evidence that proposed product provides specified warranty.
4. List of similar installations for completed projects with project names and addresses and names and addresses of architects and owners, if requested.
5. Samples, if requested.

1.2 DEFINITIONS
A. Demolition and removal: Detach items from existing construction and legally dispose of them off-site unless indicated/instructed to be removed and salvaged or removed and reinstalled.
1.3 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS
A. Pre-demolition Photographs or Video: Submit before Work begins.
1.4 FIELD CONDITIONS
A. Owner will occupy portions of building immediately adjacent to selective demolition area.
Conduct selective demolition so Owner's operations will not be disrupted.

A. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with governing EPA notification regulations before beginning selective demolition. Comply with hauling and disposal regulations of authorities having jurisdiction.

3.1 EXAMINATION

3.3 PREPARATION
A. Site Access and Temporary Controls: Conduct selective demolition and debris-removal operations to ensure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, walkways, and other adjacent occupied and used facilities.
B. Temporary Facilities: Provide temporary barricades and other protection required to prevent injury to people and damage to adjacent buildings and facilities to remain.

3.4 SELECTIVE DEMOLITION, GENERAL
A. General: Demolish and remove existing construction only to the extent required by new construction and as indicated. Use methods required to complete the Work within limitations of governing regulations and as follows:
1. Neatly cut openings and holes plumb, square, and true to dimensions required. Use cutting methods least likely to damage construction to remain or adjoining construction.
Use hand tools or small power tools designed for sawing or grinding, not hammering and chopping, to minimize disturbance of adjacent surfaces. Temporarily cover openings to remain.
2. Cut or drill from the exposed or finished side into concealed surfaces to avoid marring existing finished surfaces.
3. Do not use cutting torches until work area is cleared of flammable materials. At concealed spaces, such as duct and pipe interiors, verify condition and contents of hidden space before starting flame-cutting operations. Maintain portable fire-suppression devices during flame-cutting operations.
4. Locate selective demolition equipment and remove debris and materials so as not to impose excessive loads on supporting walls, floors, or framing.
5. Dispose of demolished items and materials promptly.
B. Existing Items to Remain: Protect new construction and existing building from damage and soiling during selective demolition. When permitted by R.E., items may be removed to a suitable, protected storage location during selective demolition and cleaned and reinstalled in their original locations after selective demolition operations are complete.
3.5 DISPOSAL OF DEMOLISHED MATERIALS
A. General: Except for items or materials indicated to be reinstalled, or otherwise indicated to remain Owner's property, remove demolished materials from Project site and legally dispose.
1. Do not allow demolished materials to accumulate on-site.
2. Remove and transport debris in a manner that will prevent spillage on adjacent surfaces and areas.
3. Remove debris from elevated portions of building by chute, hoist, or other device that will convey debris to grade level in a controlled descent.
B. Burning: Do not burn demolished materials.
C. Disposal: Transport demolished materials off Owner's property and legally dispose of them.
3.6 CLEANING
A. Clean adjacent structures and improvements of dust, dirt, and debris caused by selective demolition operations. Return adjacent areas to condition existing before selective demolition operations began.

1.04 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each joint sealer and accessory product specified, submit manufacturer's prod-uct literature, including sealant applications, and joint substrate preparation instructions for sub-strate materials and conditions as indicated on the drawings.
B. Samples: For initial selection purposes, submit manufacturer's standard bead samples of actual product exhibiting full range of colors available for each product exposed to view.
C. Quality Control Submittals:
1. Test Reports:
a. Compatibility and Adhesion: Test Reports from sealant manufacturer indicating joint sub-strate materials and joint back material have been tested for compatibility and adhesion with joint sealants. Include sealant manufacturer's interpretation of test results relative to sealant performance and recommendation for primers and substrate preparation needed to obtain adhesion.
b. Product Test Reports: For each type of sealer being used, provide test reports evidencing compliance with specified requirements.
2. Certificates: Joint sealer manufacturer's certification attesting their products compliance with specification requirements and are suitable for use intended.
3. Manufacturer's Instructions: Provide manufacturer's instructions for preparation and installa-tion.
1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Qualifications: Applicator's firm with not less than three (3) years successful experience in appli-cations of joint sealants with a minimum of five (5) applications similar in type and size to that of this project.

1. Applicator's Field Supervision: Sealant applicator must maintain a full-time English speaking supervisor foreman on job site during times sealant application Work is in progress. Supervi-sor must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in sealant application Work similar to nature and scope of this project.
2. Provide list of completed projects with project names, addresses, names of Architects and owners.
B. Mock-Ups: Submit the joint sealer manufacturer samples of materials that will contact or affect joint sealer, for compatibility and adhesion testing, as described below:
1. Use test methods, standard with manufacturer, to determine if priming and other specific joint preparation techniques are required to obtain rapid, optimum adhesion of joint sealer to joint substrates.
2. Submit not less than nine (9) pieces of each type of material, including joint substrates, shims, joint sealant backings, secondary seals, and miscellaneous materials.
3. Schedule sufficient time for testing and analysis of results to prevent delay in the progress of the work.
4. Investigate material failing compatibility or adhesion tests. Obtain joint sealer manufacturer's written recommendation for corrective measures, including use of specially formulated pri-mers.
a. Test for compatibility with foam backer rods and tape. Test for bleed through and ade-quate release or bond-breaking capabilities and possibility of limiting sealant life, because of contact between sealant and foam backers.
C. Pre-Installation Conference:
1. Arrange and conduct in accordance with Section 011000.
2. Conduct prior to installing each type of sealant.
1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Packing and Shipping:
1. Include the following information on product labels:
a. Product name and designation.
